After the Liverpool game, pavluchencko and Bent mentioned that the Liverpool players were tiring toward the last 10 minutes. the same was said of the Arsenal players in the midweek game. is it mere coincidence that we still had the ability to come in these games or had Ramos fitness regime actually come into play.

I remember during the tour of Spain in Marco Alvarez diary they mentioned they were working on our fitness as we tired as a team after 80 minutes and we need the levels of endurance to last 95 minutes. Have any of you noticed this improvement ?

Only since Harry arrived :)

seriously tho PP maybe the pre-season work is paying off - but the fact is JR& co had ****d it up to such an extent that we weren't in a position to benefit from any extra fitness we may/may not have had

Could it be that Harry's enthusiasm & nouse and Juandes fitness regime has benefitted us double bubble lets hope the "English way" doesn't result in a loss of fitness and undo all the good work. Not quite cause for concern yet, more pause for thought.

Adrenaline.

Not sure I could see the same happening on a rainy day at Wigan or West Brom.

I'm sensing that we are much fitter and are able to wear our oppenents down. Hell if there is one positive from that previous regime is that they left our players a fitter bunch. They were taking us in one direction and that is down, so i guess we would not have seen the benefits of their fitness levels.

Agree, i'm desperately hoping we are fitter and Harry has motivated them and restored self-belief. If we are fitter then let's pray we retain those qualities of the Ramos reign.

I've been winding Sc*m and Scouse mates up about our superior fitness for 2 days.

I'm really sure whether we are fitter per se - you'd imagine their regimes are pretty good too.

What I do know is that the scousers seemed to be first to every ball for 65 mins and then slowly started to tail off. I think they just ran themselves ragged on the excitement of defending 1st place in the Prem and had less than us left in the tank at the end.

Also makes me happier about our performance to think that the only reason they looked better was because they sprinted the first 3 laps of the mile :)

Adam, we also did our fair share of running, most notably in defence. self-belief aside it is no co-incidence that both the Arse game and pool game we came back at the end.

I remember the Chelski cc/pl game of 2 years ago where Jol's substitution of Berba and i think Lennon was blamed for us losing that game, but we had played a Euro game on the Thursday away and then had to play Chelski in a midday kick-off on the saturday.

It was more mental i think. Liverpool were 1-0 up inside 3 minutes, and they had several clear cut chances to push further ahead and kill the game off. But they failed, and i think they started to get more and more frustrated as the 2nd half went on. Then, when we got our equaliser, you could sense the Liverpool players had lost belief that they could get back in front.

It could be that Pavyulachenko had come on as a sub so he was a bit fresher than the Liverpool players..

It would explain why most of the players looked as if they were wearing dicing boots for the last ten minutes against Wigan, I suppose.

Odd how this super fitness only manifested itself after Random and his sidekicks got the bum's rush, isn't it?

But hey, there are those who are still more than willing to drink at Donna's Bullshit Bar.

Granted that Ramos was completely out of his depth in the EPL, the players not being motivated etc, i merely posed the question are we seeing the benefits of Marco Alveraz fitness regime now that we have a good manager who the players can respond too. When last were we able to come back against a top 4 team.

I dunno if we're fitter or if being allowed to eat three days before a match or whatever is making a difference, but i dunno why i have this odd feeling that this has had a massively positive effect on our Ledley? He didn't have that fragile edge to him against Liverpool, he looked a lot more confident and anyone who's had to recover from a long term injury before will tell you, keeping your spirits up and confidence high is often both the toughest and most beneficial thing for you. He looked more cheerful too, less frowning - nice to see
