What's new

Players should be proud of themselves for the heart they showed tonight

A lot of foolish and sloppy errors cost us or put us under pressure tonight

But to be fair we fought hard and Basel are a good team, personally I hope they go on to win it

Pens are pens, but some points, although given in a stupid manner (i.e jog on Levy etc..) have a point. I've never seen poorer body language in a team going to penalties than ours. No one looked confident and we we're feeling sorry for ourselves before we took the first one.

Great heart to get through extra time, but what's the point in showing that heart in extra time to then look so dejected on penalties?

We played well IMO. Didn't united and Bayern both lose in that ground? I had to leave right as extra time was starting so I'm more amused than anything that we lost in a penalty shootout.

Some of those players didn't deserve to be on the losing side tonight that's for sure.

You can make your own minds up as to who they are...

We didn't play well.

We fought well and, once we were down to 10 we defended very well, but I don't think we can say that we played well.

Sorry but what did people think would happen? That he'd say fuck off and stop playing? He did well. I wouldn't say it was a hero's performance. He contributed significantly to the turning point of the match, Vertonghen's red card.

Fuck off... Did I say it was a "hero's performance"? No. I said he was a real pro, do you know what "pro" means? Google it.

Kipling said it best.

I am proud of the team this evening, yes we went out but we gave it our all!
The pain of defeat is a powerful motivator and we can use this to cement our place in the Champions League next season!

He also makes exceedingly good cakes, clearly a very talented chap

Holtby came of age in a spurs shirt tonight. Was brilliant and little passes round the corner and was a warrior! Holding midfield most certainly his position. Would love to see him Dembele and Sandro behind baler Lennon and a world class cf

Happy with the players heart and application tonight especially after the red card.

It was the 1st leg that lost it for us.

Fuck off yourself. The hero's performance part was a generalisation on the general thread theme of making out Dawson played like Nesta. Google "proper haircuts" and change your avatar.

Really? Good win against Inter, but otherwise?

Reasonable point. Other than for 45 minutes against Inter we've been shit in the Europa League. The fact that we were so close to getting to the semis says a lot about the tournament I think.

Or how good we actually are and with a few decent additions...

From what I saw, we played well and a lot of players performed better than I expected them to. Dempsey, Adebayor, walker, Holtby, and Hudd to name a few. Encouraging performance I thought. At least we don't have any more injuries.

I googled it and have now booked Monica, 23 from Latvia for light hand relief.

Thanks, you've brightened up my night. Can't believe I didn't think of that before.

Great run in the cup this year, very proud of the lads. Will definitely be able to hold my head high in work tomorrow.

Well done to the stand outs, Walker, Carroll, Holtby, Dempsey and Daws. Keep up that form and we have a chance at top 4.

Of that list I thought only Walker really excelled.

Dempsey took his goals well but didn't contribute much else.

Adebayor started well but faded badly. Similar with Holtby.

As for Hudd, he looked like a decent centre back but other than a horribly defended long ball I don't think he really helped us in attack.

I really don't think we played very well today, but they dug deep which was good to sea.
