Make no mistake we are very much in the market for a striker. This is just Poch/Levy saying to Peace we aren't depending on you and we aren't desperate.

I don't understand why we don't look at strikers in Sth America that we could buy to develop into the next round of star forward(s). Places like Uruguay, Columbia, Argentina have loads of talent that may not be the solution for right now, but could be in 2-3 years. Work permit issues etc I know, but there is a way around all that crap

Buying strikers is a whole different world to defenders and midfielders. We need a different approach

Work permit changes were made last year. It would be almost impossible to get a young South American player in.

Son and N'jie no

Im using them as an example but having someone that can play up top would make a big difference.

Chadli has alot of attributes but isn't being tried there so is a mute point.

In our 4231, there is an over reliance on the AM3 and at times they leave our striker to do basically feed off scraps or try make something himself rather always servicing him. However when the above are tried there it seems to get much worse imo

If Kane picks up a knock and we need a striker to do a job I rather rely on an actual striker who can do the role rather than the above running around trying to be a striker but not really troubling

If I had the choice between Pato and one of Son or Chadli starting up front, I rather go with Pato tbh(though it appears chances of getting him on a loan are slim). Even someone like Immobile who was at loan Sevilla and now gone to Torino on loan would have been great imo

What qualities are you prioritising in a striker in our system as back up though? Immobile is a bit like Soldado. I'd rather have people like Son up there pulling Cb's about and leading the press, keeping the system working than more one dimensional box "9" who's just going to stand around waiting for one of our am's to create the wonder chance.

I think all the Berahino fans should realise that he will not becoming to us mainly because their chairman doesn't want to deal with us Levy wants him on the cheap and he's going to Newcastle. So I think you can forget that one.
It also looks like Townsend is going nowhere if Levy insists on 14 mil for him I don't see anybody paying that. To me he's a 10 mil player at the most.We obviously see him as surpluss to requirements so take the 10 mil and move on mr Levy, Please.

We've also had ITK stating Poch doesn't want him.

You do realise that the player has a say about what club he goes to?

But who a level above that would want to come to sit on our bench ?
Young Dembele.

He knows the English game and can score goals and is a striker.

I like Berahino but I don't think he's what we need really. We need a young understudy who knows the league who is an out and out striker and will be a better suited option than Son / N'Jie / Chadli etc but won't be too pissed at not starting that many games, who we can bring on as an impact sub and start in the games vs lesser teams and as he develops we can play him alongside Kane.

Does Dembele know the league? I mean PL. I agree though. I would be tempted to keep clear of Berahino (after all the mess from which neither player nor owner emerge with much credit. Give Peace a chance? Nah)

The Championship isn't too dissimilar from the Premier League. It's not like signing a player from abroad.

Who wouldn't want to see an Academy lad scoring goals. But Poch's has given pitch time to a lot youngsters without any strikers making an impression. It is the opposite approach but unless we have something lined up I think Austin would have been fine.

Actually Dembele plays off Ross Mccormack for Fulham more like Alli does for us. He is actually fairly similar to N'Jie and Son in that he supports the striker rather than playing up on his own. IT wouldn't surprise me if we are thinking he can be adapted to play up front due to his size.

I hope it is not the case that he has an absolute right of veto over any possible signing. If that is the case then he would be totally responsible if we don't find a Kane back up and run out of goals. Levy would get the stick though.

I hope he does. I don't want players the manager doesn't want.

I think he made it clear by his lack of use of some of the Bale 7 that he won't play players he doesn't want.
Thus "encouraging" Levy to buy players he wants and will use

Might be easy for you to write off £4m as nothing. Doesn't work like that in the real world.

Townsend is a 24 year old English winger who was in the England team not so long ago.

Prem clubs are cash rich with the TV deal next season and if the likes of Newcastle, West Brom and others are interested then £14m is not completely unlikely.
