That teams to defensive. Honestly how many goals do you think you'll get from that team. (Don't give me a long answer give me a number)

Edit- I've seen some highlights
With Holtby, Eriksen, Lamela and Soldado we should score enough goals to beat West Ham. I can't give you a figure.

If you haven't seen full games, that is your choice. But if you had, you would've seen that Capoue has been our best player in pre-season. It would be madness not to start him against West Ham.

Lloris
Walker- Kaboul-Vertonghen- Davies
Capoue-Bentaleb
Lamela- Holtby- Eriksen
Soldado

I hope we will have Musacchio by then but I don't think he'd be ready to start. I'm not sure whether Sandro will even be here and Dembele and Paulinho might not be fit enough to start. I think we'll get Schneiderlin eventually but not by the West Ham game.

Mason could well muscle a start ahead of b'leb imo.

Can't see it myself. I wasn't as impressed with Mason compared to most people (he was still good nevertheless). Bentaleb was very good today, albeit towards the end of the much his passing accuracy seemed to worsen.

"B'leb"- what the fuck is that? :ROFLMAO:

but the team you've posted is virtually the same? you have sandro+dembele, he has capoue+bentaleb, neither pairing is particularly more "attacking" than the other. then you have townsend whilst he has holtby, which of those two is more likely to get goals? how about a front six of:

capoue bentaleb
dembele paulinho lennon
adebayor
looks pretty defensive right? not many goals? yet they put four past newcastle. putting the 11 highest goalscorers we have together doesn't guarantee they'll outscore a "defensive" looking team.

Jesus mate, calm down.

Its only a guess and what side I think he'll pick on the opening day. Not my ideal starting eleven.

I started this thread to get an idea on who people thought pochintino would pick out of our current squad, but most people are picking their own side most of them containing players we don't even own. I suggest people read the OP or start up a new thread

Lloris;
Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Davies;
Mason, Capoue;
Holtby, Lamela, Eriksen;
Soldado.

Subs: Friedel, Rose, Musacchio, Paulinho, Bentaleb, Lennon, Adebayor.

Two weeks until the start of the season and the players at the WC know nothing of Poch's style yet. For this reason I think Mason could start the season. The only toss-up for me is Lennon or Holtby, but I think Holtby has been more productive on the whole.

An SC thread going off-topic? Woah! Couldn't see that one coming.

Without including any potential signings. Also going by what Poch seems to be trying to do strategy wise.

Lloris
Davies - Vertonghen - Kaboul - Walker
Dembele - Capoue
Lennon - Lamela - Eriksen
Soldado
I'm not a super fan of Lamela in the middle, but more often than not either Poch aligns them that way or Lamela tends to rotate there frequently.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Chadli in over Lennon and seeing more of a Chadli - Eriksen - Lamela front.

What I believe Pochettino will play:

-------------------- Lloris --------------------
Walker --- Kaboul ------- Verts --- Davies
--------- Capoue --------- Paulinho ---------
Lamela ------------Holtby---------- Eriksen
------------------ Adebayor------------------

Why?

I think he will go for a side that can bring a physical presence in and around the box on set pieces against the Hoofball experts that are West Ham. Kaboul and Vertonghen represent not only our best CB tandem at this time but also the best in the air that we can offer.

Capoue and Paulinho are also valuable defending set pieces and we're going to need a physical presence in the box to hopefully win some headers and wreak some havoc on West Ham's backline. I'd imagine Paulinho could push even further forward at the expense of Hotlby dropping a tad deeper just to ensure we have enough physicality up top. It's why I also went with Adebayor over Soldado. Soldado is going to have a huge role this season, but I think this match might go against his style of play given the way West Ham play like assholes.

The '3' behind the striker are there to create space and confusion with movement. Holtby and Paulinho could add to that with interchanging between being an attacking midfielder and more of a box-to-box option. I think it could create the confusion we will need to break down West Ham's defense.
