Are we really as bad as we think we are?

We are in a pretty bad way at present. No manager. Big question marks on the future of our star player. No naming rights on the stadium. Issues with the quality of players we heavily rely on. Weak defence. Poor midfield / options. No CL. No trophies. Part of the group of clubs wanting to break away. Poor financial investment on players. Levy losing his way big time... his own words lost the DNA of the club poor decision making. Tight. In debt to the bank of England. Spursy will become a word in the Oxford dictionary. Joe Lewis doesn't give a flying F.

The list goes on.

Yes we are bad.

If Bale and Kane were to leave next season, it will severely destroy our team. We might even look at a relegation battle if we dont improve our squad.

Many of the bottom clubs this season outplayed us, but for poor finishing, they couldve beaten us. We, on the other hand, relied so much on the finishings of Kane and Bale, and Kane's assist to Son, despite being outplayed in more than half of our matches.

Take them away, and what do we have left. Scary thought

Of course, one might say we will invest heavily on new players with the Kane money, but that is uncertain (Levy factor), or the quality that we bring in might not be what we desire (again LEvy factor)

Many of the bottom clubs are toothless. But they played good football. We, on the other hand, will be toothless and not able to create. That's relegation material for you

We're absolute shite. We have two good players, one of which wants out.

Back to the 90's banter era for us...

I’m honestly feeling pretty optimistic about the future despite us having a pretty crap season. If our coach is Fonseca I’ll get behind him and see what he can do. Seems like almost every recent coach that had a name or was expected to do great things with us struggled (Santini, Ramos, Villas Boas, Mourinho) and some of the not so popular names did well like Jol, Redknapp and Poch (I really wanted de boer and was disappointed getting Poch). I think people just see the Zorro thing and despair but he has a surprisingly good record and really does like to play progressive football.

We’ve changed our structure and have to trust what Paratici will bring but I can’t really see it being less functional than where we have been. He is picking a coach based on the philosophy and will select players he thinks can fit it. At least we’ll have direction which is something you can’t really say by the recent scatter gun approach of late.

We also could have done a lot better last season. We started brightly, played some decent stuff early in the season and early in games but we invited so much pressure that we gave up a lot of leads. I don’t think our defenders are as bad as they were made to look last season and I think we have talent in the squad.

I think we’ll fly way under the radar and we could surprise some people. Do we have issues? Yes. Are they unfixable? Of course not.

I think our talent levels aren't that bad.

Coaching and motivation have been the biggest issues and it's been this way for nearly 2 years now.

Looking on the brightside, these areas can be remedied; a few players need to go and a couple of optimistic characters brought in.

Unfortunately, Levy seems to be a problem, because I don't think he's very good at the footballing side of things and I don't think he's done enough to create a culture of excellence at the club. With regard to this, it's not necessarily about spending lots of money; it's more about developing a philosophy at the club, which everyone is proud of, where everyone is pulling in the same direction to achieve the best results that our potential allows.

There are clubs across Europe that do this, who have smaller budgets than us, so as I say it's not necessarily about spending lots of money.

Anyway, this isn't a Levy-bashing thread so I'll leave it there.

Yes.

We are broke apparently, so what recruitment? And do you think the bald wank gibbon will invest in the players we need, or what players we can get on the cheap?

If levy had invested in Poch properly when we was in the CL and not buying players like Sissoko, when with a little more on the quality player we did need.

We wouldn't have to worry so much about rebuilding the team during a global pandemic when our finances are tight, we might not be looking for a new manager, we still have Poch and we certainly wouldn't have a team full of mid table dead wood.

The wank gibbon has created a cluster fuck of epic proportions.

I fear we are 2 seasons away from challenging for top 4 again. We have some ageing players, some who have lost their form big time, and some who just aren't ever going to be good enough. Because the top few teams are well above us now we could easily be in the 5th to 17th bracket, literally anywhere in there because it's so tight. I don't fear relegation but the promoted teams are used to the premier league apart from Brentford. It could be uncomfortable if we don't get some points on the board.

We are probably the 6th 7th best team in the league, and if Levy do not invest or find money somewhere, he can keep talking up our great stadium, but our team will probably be hanging around the 7th 8th place in years to come i am afraid.

Yes Spurs are self sustained, but that means shit if Everton and Leicester have owners that keep investing in the team, then they will overtake us in a couple of years and our Super league flirt just looks even more pathetic Just have to laugh when he mentioned FFP in that interview as well. Strange how some teams in the league can invest billions on players over 5 years without any punishment then.

Last two seasons we've generally spent money, the issue isn't that we're not spending now it's what we're spending it on.

If kane was staying there would be a way back but honestly we look a mess. Our defence and midfield are terrible. We have a few good attacking options but without Kane we will be struggling to finish in the top half again.

FFP is being done away with because it doesn't work someone like levy would be an advocate of it because he wants to put an end to spending big.
But the big clubs are not interested and are able to continue buying whom they want, it's up to others to decide whether they are in or out.
Ironically he was more than happy to take the huge ESL money but doesn't want to challenge the elite clubs.

our best player wants out, we dont have a manager and my hunch is the financials are worse than we know. Im. not a doom and gloom sort of guy but I get the feeling things will get worse before they get better.
