Abuse? What part of my post was abuse?

I'm not convinced of Ade being captain material because of his history, it was only a year ago he was being problematic with AVB. I'm more than happy if he proves to be worth his vice-captaincy, same with Kaboul with his captaincy but I don't see a particular reason why he's been chosen.
Why is it always Ade's fault and never AVB's that there was a problem last year? Wasn't it AVB's job to win over his players rather than relegate them to the dustbin because his pride was hurt?

Surprised by both Ade and Kaboul tbh. Didn't see that coming.

I can see the thinking behind it though. Kaboul is a natural leader, even if his performances weren't as good as they were (though I think he's getting better).

With Ade it might be a clever move. He likes an arm round him and this is a big vote of confidence.

Looks like fazio might not be the shoe in that people thought. Though I have no doubt Poch will promote players to the starting 11 if warranted.

You don't need to be a guaranteed starter to be a captain. Dawson is a great example of that.

Awful decision imo . Hope Fazio and Verts still start in the league games. And I dont know if it is a good idea to give a character like Ade the armband.

My choice would be:

1. VErtonghen
2. Kaboul
3. Lloris
4. Capoue

True. But for the time being he seems to be our first choice CB, along with vert, and as he's just been made captain I would assume, at least for the short term or until form drops, he'll continue to start.

Shit can change though.

Ade was fucking about after the ACON had ended and instead of coming back when scheduled he delayed his return. His performance's under AVB were abysmal as well, even if you're not a fan of the coach the club is paying your bills for you to perform regardless. It's well documented that Ade was out of line in regards to AVB and he sidelining was completely justified.

Like I said, I'm more than happy for Ade to prove me wrong but I'm worried history may repeat himself.

Kabuol makes sense. Apart from Lennon he has to be our longest serving player. Centre back. Not everyone's cup of tea but I'm not overly concerned with his appointment.

Kaboul and Ade will be here next year. Verts and Lloris might not. I hate to say it, but that was probably the biggest reason for this decision.

they're not much more likely to be around, Kaboul's in the last year of his contract and Ade's 2nd to last. If they had buyers they'd probably be already gone.

Bit feed up of having captains that miss many games,
and I do hope the captains armband doesn't give Kaboul an easy path to the starting line up.

Actually one thing this reveals to me, in my tiny mind, is that Fazio is another one for the Player Trading Exchange - obviously not bought as a first-two CB, not bought to partner Verts as we assumed Musachio was going to be, and will probably rotated for a couple of seasons before being sold on, or as the step-up player after Vertonghen leaves.

A continuation of a theme here - 'big bids' for player (MM in this case) in complicated 3rd party deal - deal too complicated - cheaper alternative signed. Sounds a bit like Morgan, and Moutinho, and Damiao, etc...

Anyone might think we have absolutely no intention of actually signing these complicated 3rd party contract players in the first place and are using the stories to placate the fans. Well, some people might think that. Not me though. Nope.

You should not drink and post imo.

Eta - my response was apparently hard to decipher, but there is no chance this was the biggest reason Kaboul and Ade (and, oh by the way, Lloris) were chosen as captains. Thus, the post must have been made while drunk...

Because he also had issues with wenger and mancini so obviously he's no Michael Dawson

Kaboul is club captain. Doesnt mean he will play.

My local team Norwich made Russell Martin club captain and Bassong vice captain. Martin was the most senior player at the club and a steady pro. But guess what...Bassong started ahead of Martin more often than not because he was the better player. In the end, he was seen by the media and majority of the fans as the true captain as he was in the first 11 every week. The following season Martin started more often than Bassong so the media and fans saw him as the captain again.

I get why the role is important to us fans but in no way does it guarantee someone a starting place. The appointment of Ade as a vice captain is an interesting one but perhaps a physcological move by Poch more than anything else.

I fully expect Lloris to be our regular captain on the pitch. Id imagine this to be sooner rather than later when Fazio replaces Kaboul.

Do you not support Norwich first and foremost?

Looking back, I would say both handled the situation poorly. But that is water under the bridge, and for me has no impact on this season, or on Pochettino's decision to name Ade as a vice-captain.
