Had an awful poker night with the lads on tuesday night.

Started really well, played fairly tight and was lucky enough to pick up Aces on the button. Action before me was raise from UG, then a call, then a re-raise and then a call. I looked at my cards and just felt like laughing :)

Decided to push it quite a bit, only wanna play against one really, and i get an all in bet over the top, i call, and my mate shows pocket kings and my aces hold up.

But it was downhill from there, a girl who half the time doesnt look at her cards calls a huge pre flop raise by me without looking. I got jacks, and eventually she turns over Q 4 to take the pot. Then she busts my mates aces with 10-5. A joke really, hope they dont invite her next time.. ruins the game. I eventually go out third with KJ suited, J high card on the flop i go all in and get called.. ofc by AJ. Greeat.. :violin:

Just won £100 in Will Hill "One Hour Tournament"

It's a thunder tournament where blinds go up every three minutes, it's quite enjoyable, cost me fiver to enter and came second, I think there was 98 entrants.

Meh.. its happens legend, im up $600 at the moment. Seems like whenever im on a downward spiral i win a huge tourney :)

Anyone ever played a knockout tourney where a portion of each players buy in becomes a bounty, so you can win some money each time you knock a player out. Real good fun them.

You get a real good chance of covering your buy in, without having to worry about final tables.

Ah ledge :-(

Why don't you take up something cheaper, less stressful and ultimately more fun? :)

Christophe, I follow Spurs.

Bloody expensive, downright stressful and not always fun.

Poker is release from the torture that Spurs put me through:wink:

in all honesty it's a bastard game, just when you think you've got it it bites your bollocks, especially when you only play cash like I do. How about this for a hand (not complaining it happens)

I'm dealt a suited K-9 on a $1-$2 blinds, I'm on the big blind and I've got 1 raiser to $6 and 1 caller leaving me $4 to call a $15 pot. I'm getting nearly 4/1 for my money so I naturally call.

The flop commes down 9-9-k, I've flopped the 2nd nuts, only KK is ahead of me. I check, pre flop raiser checks and the caller bets out a pot size bet, there is no way I can put him on kings as he would have checked (surely) so I call him and the pre flop raiser folds. There is now circa $55 in the pot.

The turn card comes and it's a rag, a 2 or 3 or something. So I figure I must be ahead so I check trying to get him to lead out so that I can raise him. Sure enough he puts in a pot sizeish bet of $50, I think about it long and hard and put him on a King and maybe A-K, perfect for me. I've got about $500 in front of me and he has more, so I raise him to $150 to either maximise my winnings or chase him away and take down a nice pot. He responds by going all-in, only KK can beat me and I figure he can't have it or he would have definitely checked the flop. So I call for the remaining $350 I have in front of me making the pot way over $1000 and I'm thinking as long as I avoid a King on the river for a split pot I'm home & hosed.

Down comes the river- an ACE,

Over go the cards, I have K-9 giving me 9's full of K's which I flopped and he turns over A-9 giving him 9's full of A's which he hit on the river.

Once all the money was in I was a 94% favourite to win the hand and he hits his Ace.

i was gutted, but that's poker I suppose.

That's a horrible hand, and that my friend is why I'm so much happier these days now that I've stopped. The kind of thing you've described has happened to us all, and it really puts a shite slant on the game for me.

At the end of the day, you read him well, you betted well, and you managed to lose a pot of over $1,000 through absolutely no fault of your own. Stupid poker...

Play VC student poker pretty cool. Im a cheap bastard, play in the tournies with $1 buy in and freezeouts. Check/fold my way to the top 10/5 most tournies so usually win a little money, although the most I won was $4, im 74p up for the year! Worst is when you have dominant hand all in, winning all the way through then last card the bastard hits something!

I'm a another poker addict.....best win was on xmas eve last year. I entered a $55 50k guarenteed tourny on pokerstars at 8pm. At 4.30am i was eliminated in 6th place for $3300. Was really gutted as going onto the final table I was in 2nd place, miles clear of 3rd. First place was $16k as well.

Pokerstars and Full Tilt are the 2 best sites i've played on, although on Full Tilt, you have to invest a minimum of $50 everytime you deposit. But you do get to watch Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey play for some serious wedge. I was watching Hansen playing on a cash game omaha table the other day and he won a pot that had over $330k. Thats my mortgage paid in one hand of cards!!!

ive been playing poker for 15 years..im at the gutshot 3 times a week and often at the vic..online poker is when im bed ridden or cant get out..

live poker is so much more satisfiying (if you win a nice freezout or big cash pot)

saying that the gutshot online site is one of the best around IMO.. lots of incentives to play with them.

Sorry to bump this, but well, im new here!

I'm another regular player. Online only due to having to look after the kids of an evening. Been playing for a fair few years moving up the limits (6 max NLHE ring games), cashing out to pay for aforementioned kiddy type expenses and repeating the cycle.

I play at a lot of the big sites but recently got a very good deal at ipoker. Being new to the network allows you to play at the beginner tables for a few months which is a real handy extra (for obvious reasons) on top of the rakeback and other bonuses. If anyone is interested in getting the same deal, send me a message and i'll point you in the right direction.

Just out of interest, does anyone else 'go easy' on other players if they have 'Spurs' in their username? No? Im also guilty of following around anyone with 'Gooner' in their username and trying to bust them. I feel its my duty :)

I started playing pureplaypoker, just because its free.
I was doing alright, making a bit of cash each week, but the wife was unhappy.

I love poker, so I just play for free, which is fun!

Face to Face poker is where its at though, I'm lucky to have a poker hall in my town, some big money being made down there and they are now attracting several players that actually have sponsors.

Bless em in their poker kits!

a few observations

the pokerroom site is one of the worst sites out there.
they generate a lot of action by putting big starting hands out against one an other far to often, this in turns leads to a lot of bad beats (at least halk a dozen mates of mine have confirmed this).

playing beginner tables and small stake sit 'n' go's does very little to improve your game. imho.

Playing poker on-line does very little to improve your game. Playing 'live' will benefit hugely, imo.

Don't get too involved in too many pots early on when the blinds are low, better to sit tight and wait until the blinds go up to the third or forth level at least and then get aggressive!

try not to play too many hands from the early positions. Better to play hands the nearer the button you are.

the nearer the pay-out positions you get, the more aggressive you should get. Most players will try and sit tight and wait for other players to drop out. This is a good time to increase your chip stack.

does anyone play at the BigSlick club in croyden, or on their on-line site?

Anyone interested in the WSOP 2009 main event November 9?

I accidently found out the winner, i was just checking to see if the show was on the internet yet but it isnt.

Normally you can find it on wednesday here at: www.pokertube.com (so dont know why i was looking today :-|)

Anyways.. anyone here got any World Series stories? Anyone ever played in the main event? I will be playing in a bracelet event next year.. but not the main event because 10k is a little steep!

People have to be playing on poker stars..

Double or nothing SNGs are sooooooooooo easy...

Its nearly free money.. if ur a good player and like poker please look them up. Ive made about 2k off them in the last 2 weeks or so.

Just won one right now. Got abit lucky, in 3 out 6, and i have pocket queens, run into pocket kings but i make a straight. Regardless tho.. its still a great set up.

im on PKR.com but looking at a move - few programming issues, too much detail, i cant trust my pc to handle it and i get alot of disconnected messages (and when you have pocket Aces and a few hundred in the pot, its not too convenient!!)

pokerstars was my next port of call - sounds like thats where im going... Goldy whats your name on there mate? is there a referral system or anything like that? how hard to cash out?
