His attributes suggest right back may suit him best. Trippier has struggled due to a lack of power and pace recently, I wonder if Sissoko could do better. I don't think he's played there before though I wonder why noone's ever tried him there.

But, and I hate to go back to the Euros, he clearly can control the football, as he showed last summer. The difference being he was playing in an environment where he felt comfortable and confident.

Every time I've seen him play for us, he looks like a player playing within himself, playing safe, not playing naturally on instinct.

We really just need to take his crazy price out of the equation, and whether he is what we should have bought - he's here now, and he cost what he cost. I think there is a player in there that could contribute, if Poch can get him playing with confidence.

You shouldn't go back to the Euro's. You can't compare International football with top club football. Just look at the guy Eder who scored the winning goal in the final for Portugal...if he was English, he would have no caps whatsoever.

All Sissoko did in the summer was run in a complete straight line a few times and smash the ball over the bar. Not once did he ever produce an end product.

The guy has one decent game in every 10 if you are lucky. I have Newcastle fan who works opposite me and every morning he comes in, makes a cup tea and then spends the next 30 mins laughing at me because we actually bought him.

I remember on deadline night I was delighted when he was going to Everton. When the confirmation went through about us signing him, it was the worse I have felt since I woke up at 4am, whacked teletext on, to scroll down the page to find out we had bought Rasiak to replace Kanoute. That moment still haunts me as does when we signed this clown.

No doubt about it he will have a good game possibly tomorrow when he is beast mode but then the next few weeks he will be his usual garbage self.

I'm well aware that international and club football are very different, but I'm just responding to the comments that he can't control the ball and is absolutely useless, that in a very, very talented French side, he was one of their better players in the tournament, so he's not a complete imbecile.

Whether he's right for us, or was a poor purchase, yes, he probably was. But I just think the caterwauling at the moment is overkill. Confidence is everything in football, and life. It can transform performances.

Yep , quite right , it is OTT . The Fench national side is not too shabby , the number of skilled players that they can call on not too tiny . 44 caps is 44 caps . The general abuse and suggestion that he can't do anything on a football field are unnecessarily shrill imo.

He's not done a lot for us true ,could be a mentality prob , but his pedigree is clear .

Give the man a chance, what's he had, half a dozen games?
Gareth Bale looked pants for âges before he turned into our best winger since Alfie Conn

Situation reminds me of Poborsky. Bought solely on the strength of a great Euros - well, actually one goal (that chip) - and was total shit.

I just don't get this transfer?

Did Poch champion this signing? Was he the main driver behind it? If so, WHY THE FUCKING FUCK FUCK is Sissoko not even on the bench again?

And if it was Levy having another Charlie Adam moment.....well.

Surely can't be a Poch signing (unless Sissoko is injured today and that's why he's not even on the bench?) Surely a manager doesn't get the chairman to spunk £30 million on a player and then totally drop him all together after only a few games??

He has to be our worst signing of all time. He's got the physical attributes to be immense yet he's about as effective as Shola Ameobi. £30m and all he's done is look lost in his first 3-4 games, got a retrospective ban for intentionally elbowing someone and then publicly said Poch is wrong to say our squad isn't strong enough... surprise surprise he's not even made the bench. The guys a walking breathing cancer.

I know this is negative and slightly facile...

But I'm genuinely intrigued.

Who here DOES rate Sissoko?

Mods please delete if you really want, but don't act like you don't wanna know the results...

Seriously you should be ashamed, he's a Spurs player, no pre-season, been injured and played about 500 mins total.

Dembele and Eriksen have been shit this season, are you going to start one on them? What about Tom Carroll he must be due some abuse soon, or Ben Davies or whoever your next target is.

Embarrassing mate..... i bet you giggled to yourself when you pressed the post button.

Someone should start a poll whether anyone thinks you have a life or a girlfriend or are under 10

I watched footage of him from the Euros again. International football is slower than PL as I think is common knowledge so the 'lung busting' runs that he did in the Euros aren't as impactful. Best I can think of is to use him as an impact sub when the full back is tired? Otherwise, based on what I've seen I actually think he's focusing on the wrong sport....looks like a fine athlete for something like the 400m hurdles. As someone else said, most baffling signing since Rasziak for me.

Need a goat option, I've not been impressed with him so far, but will give him time to settle in a before giving a final judgement

Needs to play in centre mid if at all, still surprises me that poch plays him as a winger. Still think he can be ok but poor use of 30m

Throughout his career he's been primaly played as an attacking player, and mostly on the right. He did have a spell at CM in Newcastle when he first joined with Tiote, but eventually got moved forward. Not sure whether that was a tactical change by the then manager because of his preference for driving foward or whether he wasn't playing well there.

I'm not keen on the idea of him in central midfield. Sissoko's first touch has been heavy, his passing has been poor (even simple ones), and I don't think he'll have the right level of discipline to support both attack and defence, or awareness to know what's around him at all times. He struggles with a 180 field of vision when he's out on the touchline. He won't oust Wanyama, or even Dier, as they're defensively superior and needed to break up play. The only place you'd give him is the one next to them. Dembele is far better. Sure, he takes too many touches at times (as seen by gifting Chelsea the ball for both goals), but from what I see of Sissoko all he'll give you is headless chicken runs going forward. Sounds about the same as Dembele really, but with less ball control so a greater chance of losing it. Dembele's a better passer, albeit not the most adventurous, and can put in a good tackle here or there. He's good at reading what's around him. Hell, I'd rather play Winks in CM next to Wanyama/Dier than Sissoko. The boy is definitely suited to that position more. He ticks play over nicely and passes well.

I get why Poch is playing Sissoko as the right sided attacking mid. He's playing to his strengths. Unfortunately, Sissoko seems to have too many weaknesses to play anywhere else. He's not even put him out left or behind the striker. Just can't figure out what he's offering us.

We don't need to give him time. We already know what he's about, he's been in the PL for years. We need to sell him and recoup as much money as possible asap, and then buy a good player as a replacement...
