Defoe: seven shots on target, including a pisspoor penalty, one goal; Bent: six shots on target, three goals. Defoe: 8.3% shot accuracy; Bent: 16.7%. Defoe: 61.4% pass accuracy; Bent: 69.2% pass accuracy.

its very well quoting stats, but does Defoe get given the chance on the pitch?

that is 2 games in a row Defoe has come on and played better than Bent, looks more likley to cause defenders trouble and score

Brilliant performance. Best of the season by a country mile, including the wins over Wigan & Derby. Our short quick passing was immense and the way we kept possession was excellent.

Jenas had a magnificent game, followed closely by Kaboul & Zokora. Clean sheet at a freescoring team too. And O'Hara played out of his skin for ten minutes.

We looked like a team with lots of confidence today, long may it continue.

Thought JJ and Malbers were class today, some great interchange between the two and good passing and moving. JJ is getting better under Ramos.

midefield on the whole functioned well, and Kaboul looked much better in the right centre half slot. Bent ran around...

Boateng was IMMENSE.

I cannot see Zokora or Huddlestone removing him for CM if he continues to play like that!

A definite 8 performance by Boateng.

Robinson 6 - some good saves

Chimbonda 7 - played well

Kaboul 7 - no mistakes today!

Zokora 7 - played well.

Lee - 6 played well but some poor passing/clearances

Malbranque 7 - Mr consistency

Jenas 7 - played very well

Boateng 8 - Man of the match

Lennon 7 - some great play good crossing

Bent 6 - played better than against City

Berbatov 7 - played well scored a good goal

subs

O'hara 7 - come on and played excellent for a new boy

Defoe 7 - caused havoc for the minute he came on

Tainio 6 - not long enough to make an impression

Ramos 8 - won the battle against dodgy 'arry.

atchaly still shocked that we won and Kaboul and Zokora keeped a clean sheet and away from home

game seemed to improve in the second half and glad to see ohara get a run out, and played very well, midfield looked alot better again today though Lennon still needs to learn to cross better!!

what a result!!!

fantastic performance from Jermaine Jenas. it looks like we may have found a position for him as a deep lying box-to-box CM.
well done JJ!!!!

also a great performances from Kaboul and i have to say that apart from the occasional playing with fire, zokora also did well.

however an all-round great performance and a fantastic result, and a clean sheet. what's that about?

More happy today than Ive been ... virtually all season

Sounded (listened to 5 live, didn't watch it) like a very good performance. Commentators were quite impressed with both Boateng and O Hara, saying particularly that Jamie added a new dimension to the game when he came on.

Sounds good:grin:

What a massive result for us! I was trying to tell one of my mates yesterday that on our day we are a team good enough to beat Pompey and today the lads made me very proud! A special mention for our makeshift defence who kept it simple and defended first and foremost and a special mention to O'hara who had a huge impact on that game.

What i enjoyed most was seeing us take the lead and then keep the ball rather than continuously hitting it long and giving away possession.

OK My Thoughts are -

Jenas & KPB pairing was fantastic, Portsmouth's midfield didn't get a second on the ball. Jenas was aggressive today and I may get flamed, looked Captain material.

Kaboul looked far more assured at Right Centre and I can't wait to see him next to King.

Lennon had no service but turned it on when it mattered.

Robbo is starting to look his old self.

Bent still isn't getting the service his game requires.

It was nice to see O'Hara get minutes, and more importantly, have some nice touches and a part in the goal.

We missed Keane. Berbs missed Keane.

And was it just me, or did I see 8 stone Aaron Lennon take out an 18 stone Moe Pamarot?

Boateng 8 - Man of the match

It's amazing how people see different things. I thought Boateng was ok/good but, Jenas today was everywhere, defending, passing and dribbling were all very good today. Made a good couple of runs with the ball as well. Seems like Ramos has instilled some confidence in the lad.

Apart from Berby scoring that was my favourite moment of the match. Had me in fits of laughter.

if Boateng was wearing a Jenas shirt he would've been average at best...

I thought Chimbo was MoM today... Boateng gave away a few silly spasses and gave out a few freekicks here and there...

I didnt think we played that good either to be honest..weve played much better earlier and lost....

When that is said..Im really delighted that we kept a clean sheet and that Berb scored..he needed that:)

Talk about Irony!

Today, we played with Zokora and accident prone Kaboul in the backline, only for us to produce our best defensive display all season.

The team seemed to have that bit more hunger for the ball than in recent games and that has payed off. OK, we weren't exactly clinical in fron of goal but it was in both team's defence that the game was to be won or lost.

Looking at our starting defence, it's enough to make anyone nervous before a ball is kicked but excellent performances from Zokora and Lee made sure we did'nt lose yet another clean sheet.

Along with this change in backline personnel came an increased tendency to clear the ball first time rather than the attempts to play the ball out of trouble that we have become used to.

Obviously, this is not going to be a regular defensive line-up, but I hope that when our fist choice backline is back and fit, we can defend just as effectively.

COYS
