Probably because we played shite and getting a penalty (and maybe a draw) would have flattered us immensely.

The worst thing is, that nothing was really any players fault. People bag Dawson for being shit, which he well may be, but he didn't cost us the game. BAE and Gilberto did nothing all game, but they didn't cost us the game. etc. The only real individual culprit was Jenas for the penalty.

What lost it for us was that we had no direction, no gameplan, no strategy. You can put in all the players you like but without some idea of how you are supposed to be scoring goals as a team all we can hope for is the occasional wondergoal.

Good post.

I do feel players like BAE and Gilberto contribute to a sort of passionless rot within the club though.

Time to go with players who will fight and play. Here's the revolutionary team I would've played today:

------------------Gomes---------------

Gunther------Corluka----Woodgate---O'Hara

Bentley------Modric------Thudd------Lennon

--------------Campbell---Bent/Pav---------

Groundbreaking, no? The reasons?

1. We need to play two up front
2. Campbell has looked lively for us
3.Gunther is a RB who performed for us against Chelsea and is an established international. He will at least have a bit of hunger.
4. Corluka>Dawson
5. Cant stand to put BAE in a team. He is a disgrace to the Spurs shirt. He's basically the anti-Blanchflower. Horrible attitude for a horrible player. O'Hara is not technically gifted but he grafts at least.
6.Neither Jenas or Zokora deserve a place in the team. Modric and Thudd both have something to prove and are better players imo.

There is not a doubt in my mind that this team would outperform the absolute drec of a side we saw today. We are truly shocking.

o'hara and jj let us down over the crucial first goal - no excuses - stupid foul and an even more stupid handball

gilberto was our worst player though - we may as well have had 10 men

JR called it wrong again big time

howeve thought corluka did ok

last week we were denied a pen - this week we were denied a pen

we could easily have 6 points now

What I don't understand is why the commentators are always sniping at what we are or are'nt doing when we are away from home, When as far as I understand football the home team are the ones supposed to be asking the questions. I was hearing the same rubbish when we played in midweek against Newcastle, there really seems to be a major bias against us with the pundits and that must seep through to the officials who fail to award us the same offence as the other team!!!

good points JT - as ever the anti-spurs meeja love to knock us

and now the refs are robbing us week in week out

My biggest problem is'nt JJ and Zok. Cant say I am there biggest fan but if we were to play my team above with JJ and Zok in for Modric and Thudd I would have no problem with that actually. I think its a fair POV tbh.

What gets on my tits is that passionless fvcker BAE. Should be shot. Dawson as well is an atrocious footballer imo...I refuse to believe Corluka and Woody would not perform better. I want to see Gunther given a chance at RB...Why did we buy him? and as for Gilberto at LM, how fvcking random is that. We have Lennon and Giovanni Dos Santos on the bench and he plays Gilberto? Baffling.

I also think it has been shown now Bent or Pav up front on their own doesnt work. They are just completely isolated and cut off and never even look like scoring. I dont think they would work great as a partnership so I think Campbell should be given a shot. He is young, hungry, a good foil for Bent or Pav and has looked good so far...so play him.

I am getting seriously disillusioned.

that's strange cos jj o'hara and zokora have been better than modric and hudd this season
Have they oh thats great and by the way how many Premier Leauge games have we won this season?.Modric and Huddelstone would excel if the were playing with an excellent CM next to them like Essien,Carrick Diarra or Veloso. The three midfielders you have said are performing well wouldn't even make the squads of any of the big four clubs that we are trying to challenge. So why did we not reinforce that area in the summer is beyond me.

But we don't. There is no point wondering what if, we have to ask ourselves if we have actually deserved any points from the games we have played in the league this season and honestly we probably have what we deserve.

Also looking at the Telegraph's density map for the game today and it looks to me as Bentley was playing too narrow.

They would be 6 completely undeserved points though.

I'm pissed off with the results, but in a way I'm glad we aren't getting lucky here and there as it would just paper over the cracks. We are abysmal at the moment and I havent seen such utterly clueless dis-interested performances for a long time. I really can't see how we're going to get out of this. I haven't been impressed with one performance this season and I honestly don't know where a performance that will is going to come from.

if ramos wants to continue with the 4-5-1 system then he quickly needs to get his points across to the players because they are playing like a group of players who havnt a clue how to play in this system or were they should be when either attacking or defending.
one thing that can surely be easy enough to fix is our lack of pace when we are attacking, everything is so slow and laborious

I agree. Were not getting any luck at the moment (handball first half etc.) but maybe it's a good thing. The last thing we need is for everything to seem ok, when were putting in dreadful performances and the players are running around clueless. We really need to sort out who are best starting 11 are, what our best formation is, and get working on it every day in training and every match day.

For all the Jenas lovers out there, face facts. He is shit. His face annoys me, with his arrogant smug look, thinking he's better than what he is. let's face it, if the top four came in for him, he'd be off, like a fucking shot. The start to this season doesn't suprise me as our strike force consists of two championship quality strikers, and a russian who's played a full season, doesn't speak english and at his best misses a hatful before he scores one. not forgetting that he's up there on his own in the best league in the world. Fuck off Comolli as well, ekotto is shit. how did we have 3 of the best strikers in the league and manage to sell them all. poor managment. We are a selling club, whether we like it or not, a busisness, football is secondary to making as much money as possible and i'm sick of it, levy's made enemies with alot of people press and other clubs and this isn't Tottenham Hotspur at all. This is a mediocre, poorly run, shit money making machine. where everyone get's richer except for the fans.

Yes we are very poor and directionless at the moment, but lets have a little perspective.

We all post with too much emotion on the day of the game. After beating a Newcastle team who in crisis, many people were giving Ramos 8 or 9 out of 10, today he is getting -2. Beating Newcastles wasn#t that great and losing to Pompey isn't a disaster in itself. Hopefully we'll have a bit more perspective tommorrow. The next 3 games before the international break, against 3 teams we should really beat, will decide things. But Ramos has a LOT of work to do

I've seriously been hoping that all this "they need time to gel" etc. was true, but given todays performance and the ones of late, we are a shadow of the team that we have been over the past few seasons.

All those who still think we can make something of this season playing how we are, take note:

To avoid relegation we are going to need approx 35-40 points. From our first 6 games, we have 2! And's its not like we've had that bad a run of games either. At the rate we're currently going, I think we should count ourselves lucky if come May we have managed that task.

Clueless, passionless, spineless. And yes, if we'd been luckier we may have more points by now, but the fact is we didn't, and we haven't deserved to either. If all we have to rely on all season for points is luck, we're in trouble!

I know this is ridiculously negative but I still think some spurs fans and people on here need a reality check. We are currently a very poor side, and with the exception of maybe the barcodes, every other team in the league looks better than us, more organised, more desire, and quite capable of beating us, home and away!

:oops::oops: I am a very embarrassed, upset and disillutioned Spurs fan right now.

Agree 100% with every part of this post.

We're absolutely shit at the moment and on the pitch more of a joke than Newcastle.

hi nidge
we deffo deserved a point a point v sunderland & a point v wigan

and I don't think we deserved to lose the other four games (including the one we drew)

so we at least have the points we deserve and I think 3 4 or 5 wouldn't be unfair

today's pen was more clear cut than last week's which I'd say was 95% - this one was 100%

we were robbed and that's a fact (IMO)

Agreed although i still maintan my reservations about the quality of our CM with the exception of Modric and Huddelstone.Imo Ramos is the man to lead us foward on wednesday he was brillant and now he is terrible we need to stick by him and Gus i am sure we will get through this.
