Completley agree, the same arguement can be made for any country:

Don't buy players from France cause Kaboul and Zokora were both overpirced - but then Ribery, Drogba etc... prove this wrong.

In the end each country has good players and bad and some overrated ones, but how much you pay for someone depends on a lot of other things as well, such as demand vs supply.

Anderson is a future Davids in the making. Not just by his looks, but his tenacity and skill on the ball. he is going to be world class

I'd say Ronny Rosenthal is probably the UK based agent who, in terms of numbers, represents the most Portuguese based players - I know for a fact he has a hell of a lot of young, talented, Portuguese kids on his books.

really? who does ronny rosenthal represent?

Though Boswinga was overpriced and Veloso has been hyped up so much by people who have never seen him play and will probably disapoint, i can't see the logic behind not buying players from portugal. There is no country on earth where average players are overpriced as much as in England, so does that mean we shouldn't buy english players..

Good point and we should'nt buy English players either!
Again,I am not questioning nationality or ability - more value for money!
I think we can still buy quality players in other markets without paying an absolute fortune for them!
We need to get as much value as possible because we will need another 5/6 players.

I still believe in mixing it up. United arguably paid over the odds for Hargreaves and Carrick, but both have been vital this year and have provided the kind of midfield cover that a 100% foreign midfield wouldn't have been capable imo.

I don't know why you are against Portugese players just because WE didn't get the value we deserve.

Is it the country or is it us as a club?

Portugese players do well in the other clubs, especially the big ones. Amongst the Prem count 2 top performers in C.Ronaldo and Carvalho, and possibly the hottest prospect in Nani. Thei Portugal national team has beaten England as well.

Our failure to integrate Portugese players says nothing about them. It says how bad we are in the past managing foreigners.

I have mentioned this in a previous thread - please lets not look in Portugal for any players because they will cost an absolute fortune and they are not worth the money!
FFS we spent £3.5 million on Rocha and just look at the money United paid for Anderson(not worth it) and today Chelsea have paid over the top for Bosingwa from Porto!
Forget the Veloso's,the Quaresmas and the Gonzales because they will cost an arm and a leg!
My advice is to steer well clear of Portugal for our transfers this summer!

You won't be sunning it up in the Algarve this summer then
