Possible Change of Captain?

After yesterday's news of kaboul and adebayor, and their subsequent boot from the team is it possible to permanently change captain and vice captain once it's already been announced?

Has it been done before? I'm sure poch probably regrets choosing two poor footballers with possibly questionable attitudes to be captains now, when Hugo, vertonghen or walker would have been a sensible choice.

Perhaps taking away their captaincy will just make matters worse and create a kaboul, adebayor, capoue trifactor of negativity that poisons the squad morale

Least levy is seemingly backing the coach this time instead.of making him look the fool for leaving players out

If we made Harry Kane captain, would you have to eat your underwear?

I'm pretty sure he can make whoever he wants captain whenever he wants. Permanently or not.
It's not like announcing your 25 man squad then changing it, the captain is just a bloke with an armband.

I did find it funny that Lloris put in possibly his worst showing this season yesterday after taking on the role.

Still won't be a top striker, deeper player perhaps but striker. Nope don't see it but that's for a other thread

I suppose he won't in your view, because even if he gets 20+ for a team like Spurs this season, you would always shift your definition as to what a 'top striker' is.

Who in the PL would you consider a top striker? Do they have to be Aguero/Costa level? Is Rooney a top striker? What about Falcao?

Of course you can change captains, as Matt said, it's not like naming a squad for the season. I don't agree that changing Kaboul and Adebayor will have a negative effect on the team, it may well prove to be a game changer, it will prove to one and all, who is in charge.

The appointment of Kaboul and Ade was an attempt give them some responsibility and improve them.
Was IMHO never a long term thing.

If that ITK yesterday was true then absolutely this should happen.

adebayor and kaboul should be dropped, told to go join BAE wherever he is now and all sued for breach of contract, someone should have a chat to Lennon because even if he is one of the malcontents, there must be more to it, then make Lloris captain and Verts vice captain and go from there.

Loris as captain.

Mason is a future captain though.
Good call
I still see Fazio as the long term leader, depending on his language skills.

[edit] Oh ye of little faith ;) you mark my words he will be captain by the summer

Its like believing what you read in the papers. From what my Son was telling me it's like the voting in Xfactor.........fun but little else

How Lloris the French national captain was not made our club captain is baffling considering there were absolutely no other stand out contenders and from my point of view none of the other players are guaranteed a start

I can only assume that he's off in the Summer (or earlier!!) so they didn't want to have to chop and change again

Mason is a future captain though.

I loved how in Mason's interview he deflected praise for his shift. He basically said he's a 23 year old man, not some kid being thrown into it. He clearly places a pressure on himself to ACT like an established senior player.

There was logic in Kaboul being captain at the beginning due to the apparent respect and being a leader in the dressing room. This has backfired though due to his underwhelming performances, and perhaps even more if the ITK is to be believed. But lets not vilify him without knowing the facts there.

I agree that we should have a change though, however much it might piss of an individual- I'm sure someone like Kaboul could have it explained to him.

And simply, Lloris is our best player and hugely respected with a great attitude. He is captain material.

Then you either give the Vice captaincy to Walker/Verts- or go a bit radical and give it to Mason/Kane. Not that they are our best players-but it would give someone who would feel real pride in being that position. Gauge the crowd, know what is wanted, 100% effort, I still think some refs strangely prefer interacting with the British players.

I thought Kane was a bit of a donkey when i first saw him. But he does keep scoring. I wouldn't care if he scored face plant headers or deflections off his arse, if he does what soldado she Adebeyor don't, keep playing him i say.
He's clearly improving at a good rate, he could end up avery decent player.
Not sure yet what English striker I'd liken him to.
Shearer in the making maybe?

Always reminds me of Mark Falco who scored 68 goals for us in 178 apps. A bit clumsy and not very sexy to watch but got the job done time after time

As few others have stated - for me Hugo was the obvious choice in the first place.

He's got the right attitude, he's consistently a top performer and has played the most minutes this season plus he's the only player in recent weeks who has made the right noises and comments IMO.
