As much as I don't like goalie keepers, Lloris was the obvious choice.

Kaboul is not the same player he used to be and Adebeyor is a dickhead.

He wont change it now but i'd love it if he did, we aren't playing well at the moment and we need players of good character, the likes of Mason, Soldado, Lloris, Kane are ones who'll give you 110% and need to keep playing.

Lloris captain with Walker when he's back as Vice and MAson as 3rd choice.

Surely it has to be Lloris otherwise why name him as a vice captain if there are others ahead of him? The whole captaincy issue has been a farce already, naming anyone else would make it more so IMO.

Lloris captain and Verts vice captain.

Excluding Lennon who rarely plays, who are our longest serving players and how long have they been here? Kaboul, Ade, Kane?

I wonder if a lack of continuity / identity / hierarchy among the first team squad is part of the ongoing problem?

Like many, I'm not a big fan of having a goalie as a Captain. When things kick off, the captain needs to be in a position to calm things down and act as a mediator with the referee. Kaboul's done quite well in that respect this season; he always seems to be engaging with the ref and he did very well in the Villa game iirc. It was almost as if he was taking the referees attention away from the drama surrounding Mason and Lamela. He was also very quick to calm the Spurs players down when it started to kick off after the Benteke incident and I don't think that's something that Hugo could have done being back on his goal line.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Kaboul should be/should have been captain, but I'm just saying that it's another dimension that needs to be taken into consideration when/if we appoint a new one.

100% has to be Lloris, first name on the team sheet in more than one sense.

I agree about Lloris, goalkeepers for me are to far away from most of the action to be the one with the armband.

Yep Lloris captain, and Vertonghen vice.

Should be straightforward as far I'm concerned.

It's not like it's going to make a difference unless the arm band has magical powers, if it does no point giving it to Hugo then I think he's already at max stat useless it will upgrade his catching

Kaboul will stay captain in the short term - Ade will stay as vice along with Hugo.

this will change next summer though.

this bustup story is rubbish IMHO

long term ??

What is this, PES?

I get what you're saying, but it's also about leadership qualities and picking those who can lead by example and inspire the other players to be winners. Imagine being one of our players and looking at Kaboul, seeing a centre back caught out of position often, taking heavy touches and doing too much with the ball. He's not vocal enough and when we concede you can pretty much see him giving up, there's no fire there. Then you look up front to Adebayor who can't be bothered half the time, again losing the ball and just strolling back casually rather than busting a gut. Not exactly inspiring, is it?
