Lo Celso - I bloody hope we dont sell.

There is a player there - just needed a progressive manager to see it.

Lo Celso played a far better game than Maddison and thats the fact. This is not me being judgemental on Maddison - Just saying Lo Celso was that good today.

I would love to see a Bentancur or Bissouma - LoCelso - Maddison midfield.

Just goes to show when you have 70%+ possession, there's a lot less defending to do. But for such a team, we need individually capable CBs which we dont have. Thats the task for our recruitment team now

Just looked at the stats on the official website and whilst the important one is usually the goals I checked the saves and clearances for both side:-
Saves Spurs 1 West ham 11
Clearances 3 West ham 39
11 saves and 39 clearances wow we must have been camped in their box.

Totally agree with you on this. Got to get two in. I understand the argument of we need to sell and there’s no reason why this cannot be done. The money in the kitty from selling the following:

Nbombele
Lo Celso
Sanchez
Tanganga
Reggie

That’s 5 that could get sorted, perhaps add a few more to that list.

I hope behind the scenes they are getting the two CBs sorted (not Lenglet please not him)

Forget selling LoCelso. If LoCelso keeps performing like he did for rest of preseason, he is not going.

I hope Ange is open enough to keep him and Lo Celso as well is ok to stay & play with us.

Feel like lots of clubs asking for him unfortuantely but yea really hope Lo Celso stays, said repeatedly for years that he is a good player and will look like it in a posession based attacking style as shown today.

Definitely not disputing that at all. Based on the rumours a wanted player, however, up to him I guess. If he keeps it up and wants to stay that’s fair enough. Who knows but if we do get money from him this surely can be used effectively towards two new CBs.

Reguillon, Tanganga, Sanchez showed they arent good enough. Goes to Immediate sell list, if they weren't already.

Porro too seems a liability defensively.

Emerson, Udogie made a great case for themselves for starting XI. Ben - solid as usual was good.

Romero was bit meh today.

Devine was brilliant & fluid, was probably better than Kulu playing in similar position.

Thinking about it that game is a likely precursor for a fair few games this season, we are going to slaughter some teams but there will be games like that where we dominate but the goals just won't go in. It's been a while since we had that problem.

OMG we’ve gone from the sublime to the cor blimey!!!

We could very well be lovely to watch for a while now and results & league position wise be struggling!

Disappointing to see us lose to 4 shot west ham, but it highlighted the issue everyone knows which is defensively we are dog dirt.

Worryingly I would also add Romero into that description. Love his on the front foot defending but not sure aerially or positionally he is quite there at the moment. We need 2 centre backs brought in. Clear as day today that is what's required as we cannot trust any of the centre backs.

Full back wise, I thought Porro was poor defensively and outshined by Royal and I think that Reguilion was awful and Udogie looked bright.

Lots of highlights though for me. Solomon looked lively, Bissouma was in control and Skipp played well in a more advanced role. Second half I thought that Udogie was excellent, Sarr is going to be around the first 11 and Devine was very composed.

Ange's style of football may take a bit of time, but with a couple of additions I do think we will be well equipped for it and will surprise a few people.
If we didn't already need 2 CBs i'd be happy to sell Romero if it got us most of our money back. But considering the context it would be crazy not to give him at least another season as his first one here was exceptional.

Without seeing the game I’m hoping that is meant as a compliment but judging by some people’s reactions could easily be meant as a criticism. I hope the slagging off of Hugo can stop now and we appreciate what a legend he was for us.
I think it would be best for you to see him in action so you can form your own opinion on that.

Either way, it's early days and there needs to be a settling in period where he will form an understanding with the backline.

Yep its called a process and project and will take time but playing like this you give yourself way more chance of winning games, if we have 70%+ posession and 30+ shots and limit teams to 3-4 shots and 30% posession same as what Man.City do to teams then we will win a lot of games and be lovely to watch.

1) The team will need time to get fitter and get more used to the new style of play
2) We need to sign some new defenders

Do step 1 & 2 and it will be very very happy days.

For us to go on a run in PL to compete for top2 or 4, we need to beat the teams that we should be beating in the pyramid. For that, this fast paced 70% possession style will suit perfectly. This is how we use to play in the final season at lane. If we can replicate this week in week out, we will be winning those 3 points more consistently.

Judging by this performance it would be worth busting a gut to get both Tapsoba and VDV . They are both quick and miles better than Sanchez and Dier. Put them in that team. It is what we absolutely need.

If Gio can stay fit and we can convince him to stay here, he could be a huge asset.

Also watching how good Devine and Sarr already are at their age is wonderful.

I know we all agree we need 2 CBs but after this I actually wonder if we should scrap searching for another midfielder and instead actually go for another winger but someone who is more comfortable on the right with real elite pace and dribbling ability.

We have Son and Solomon for the left but we only have Deki for the right. I'm not sure Gil wants to be here and I'm not sure he is quick enough and two way enough with his dribbling to be the other RWF option.

I'm thinking Diaby, Olise or Chukwueze if we want a left footer or Doku or Nico Williams as they're both also comfortable on either flank.
