Literally every big club goes on tour to lucrative markets for pre-season now. It's worth at least several million pounds a year, possibly more when you consider long-term commercial revenues. Not a single person would want to give up one new signing per summer in return for going back to games at Leyton Orient etc instead.

Yeah we’d be mugs not to, but we also need to pick places that aren’t in the middle of a monsoon season and if we do persevere with such locations, find a stadium which has a roof

for people getting paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to plan these things (if not millions), it’s astounding how they got this one so wrong
