Lovely stuff Richi - he suits this system perfectly

Why would we spend large money on Toney when we have this guy?

The guy is a 9. The guy is definitely not a winger. Play him there and I bet you he'll thrive

I think it's going to be a very up and down season until things settle down somewhat.

As part of a reset and rebuild, the signs are very promising.

I think Gio, Richy, Perisic, and Royal are the main reasons for that. They just seem to get what we're trying to do and are doing it at a high level.
Particularly Gio... I said a few weeks ago that he's one of the players most suited to pass/move football in our squad so it doesn't surprise me that he looks so good here. Everything goes through him.

Richy is a superb presser and having full backs invert suits Emerson. Perisic being 2 footed with great technical ability and crossing is a huge boost. We should definitely keep him.

Will be really interesting to see the team selection for game 1.

Back to back games where the 2nd half players have played better than the so called 1st XI.

First Half standouts:

Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison

Second Half standouts:

Richarlison, Solomon, Perisic, Lo Celso

All we need now is new CB(s) and we’ve the makings of a decent side.
Reggie played well too, the cross to Solomon was sublime

I don't want to shit on anyone's strawberries but I think it ought to be pointed out that the Lion City Sailors first half team represented their A team as well and the drop off to the second string at that level is going to be quite noticable.
We perhaps ought to bear that in mind when we make comparisons with our two halves.
I can't help but think a mix of the two will become apparent over the next two friendlies.

If I had to guess I'd say our most important midfielder this season will be Bissouma who I think is going to be a monster for us. I hope you are right about Lo Celso, but he has it all to prove.
So has Bissouma.
He's hardly played for us.

Ange himself has said not to read into the two teams - its as much based on fitness as anything.

I also expect a lot of rotation and substitution, even for a team not in Europe this year.

I think the level of competition for spots will help everyone raise their levels.

Don't care about the level of opposition, just happy Richy got his goals. Will do his confidence the world of good.

If Soloman is doing well in this system (not watching) then it also gives me high hopes for Gil. Similar size of player with good technique and dribbling. It's going to be really interesting to see how Ange shapes this squad. He could play Son up top if Kane leaves, he could move Kulusevski into the midfield 3 with the options we have out wide. Lots of good options in midfield and attack. Just need to sort this defence out which is such a major concern.
Don't think Gil has the acceleration that Manor does, especially with the ball at his feet. Wish we could've seen him on tour but Gil seems like the odd man out, especially if Perisic sticks around

Ange has to say that, though. He's not going to openly say "this is the A team and this is the B team" to the press.

I'm sure there will be tweaks and changes before the Brentford game, but the line-ups heavily imply the first half team is the one he's shaping up as our 11.

I want Kane to stay but if he goes i think Richarlison fits perfectly in the Ange system. He presses far higher and is quicker than Kane, he plays the exact role for Brazil.
Daniel Levy on reading this post phones Bayern whilst locking his chequebook in the safe.
