I guess if anything tempers my optimism about our new attacking system and the players who seem to suit it its that I wonder how good it and they will be when we play a team that attacks back, in other words when we play competitively in the Premier league. Preseason has been great for our squad to work on the new way of playing but it certainly hasn't been tested yet.

You have to remember they aren't looking for an in depth analysis of the inner workings of insider trading. They are after an innocuous throw away comment that they can twist into a damning headline. IIRC the all white thing was something we did for European games, I didn't know we'd gone full time this season. TBH I prefer the blue shorts, it's more traditional, but back in the day, all white did have a certain aura about it, what with Real Madrid and Leeds, but that's everything to do with the teams they had back then than todays prejudices.

We played in all white just over ten years ago, I wasn't impressed and thought that was the end of it. European games only for me.

It's a pity that our games against Roma / Leicester got cancelled. I've enjoyed watching our two preseason games to see the attacking intent, but especially in the last game against a rotated second-rate side it is very hard to judge what level our players are playing at. We're certainly not being tested enough defensively and on the rare occasions that we have been defending we have often conceded.

I suppose this tour so far has been nothing more than a training exercise, for both conditioning and putting into practice Ange's new tactics. But we're severely lacking competitive match practice.

Agree. Shaktar and Barca should give us more of a test.

And think Ange said we are arranging an in-house friendly hopefully against someone half decent.

Despite all of the farcical off the pitch matters I’m still fairly excited about things to come on the pitch.

From the two games so far it shows that we do have competition for places especially in attacking positions.

I know it’s like a record repeating but most will be content with a competent solid CB next to Romero. We just need 1/2 in that position (back up and challenge Romero) and feel we can all calm.

That’s the good thing in all other areas there is genuine competition for places and that’s what pushes players.

Honestly i'm not convinced by Porro as a right back at all. Would quite like Ange to give Spence a shot. He's just come here I know but whisper it quietly he's a talented player who just might not be the right fit for what we need right now. I'm not sure if it's even possible to sell him this window though.

100% this. I don't think Porro will cut it as a RB in the premier league. Great wing back, but he's not got the defensive ability and nouse to play RB. Maybe he could be trained, but he looks much more effective as a RW and I think it makes a lot of sense to use him and Deki as the RW options for now.

Spence should adapt well to the RB role under Ange, so the sooner he get some game time the better.

I would also be getting Rodon on the pitch ASAP, it's clear Davies isn't going to be our LCB, so no point continuing with trying him out.

New home kit is all white for mens time with the option of going with blue shorts for the womens team (for obvious reasons).
