Sacking Parker is the right decision. He should never have chosen to play 3 top 4 contenders in his first 4 fixtures. :cautious:
But you only get that kind of flexibility if you manage Arsenal, how could the chairman not see this?!

He's been given a transfer budget of £25 mil to compete in the Premier league. In contrast Fulham have spent over £50 mil and Forrest have spent £140 mil+. An over reaction is an understatement considering they've had without question the hardest run in the Prem fixture wise, playing Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal in their first 4 games. When you look at the fact they won the other game it's a disgrace really.

I do wonder if he's not stormed the Chairman's office demanding more money etc and that's why he's gone?
Yeah, sounds like Parker has been a bit over emotional after a horrible result, off the back of a horrible run of fixtures. His interview was a public criticism of his employers, which they have taken offence to.
I would guess a post match meeting took place and it didn't go well.
Parker maybe should have known that there is a good chance his side could get heavily beaten vs the top 6 and been a bit more dismissive of the results.
The board should maybe have cut him a bit more slack.
But if they only have £25M to spend, then that's what Parker has to work with.

Wouldnt be surprised if the old guard comes into the fore -Sam Allardyce but not sure if he is now retired - he will do anything or a million or two

I will miss seeing Scott Parker’s expensive cardigans.

It's got to be that he knows they are fucked and the board have told him "get on with it or leave".

Mental from them though.

In the 2018/19 season every PL club received £82.5m regardless of where they finished. Since then the PL has agreed new deals with Sky, BT, Amazon, the BBC and a host of international broadcasters so this year's payout will be greater than 18/19's. Bournemouth has money to spend but clearly they want to take the Norwich approach and stick with a Championship level squad and bank the money they receive.

Hard to know if this is bad for Parker’s career or a blessing in disguise
Probably a blessing in the long run to be honest. Had he have continued he'd probably have been drubbed most weeks, at least now he can say I was on a hiding to nothing and I'm too ambitious to settle on just losing every week.

I mentioned it a couple of weeks ago, but the Bournemouth fans I know knew this was going to happen from the moment they went up. I don't think it's a surprise in any way for them.

What game is everyone watching tonight? I'm undecided...
Southampton/Chelsea for me. With the way they played against Leicester and United, I fancy Southampton to get something tonight. Chelsea have looked terrible since playing us.

They’re not even in the relegation zone and they played City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the first four games. This is bonkers.
“However, in order for us to keep progressing as a team and a Club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another. That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”

Nothing to do with results.

Their stadium only has a capacity of 11,364 seats.

They are punching well above their weight and it must be difficult to compete with other PL clubs, who have more revenue.
