Some goal by Chillwell tbh to be able to head it and turn and stick his leg out and re-direct it in that sharply
I feel a bit for Taylor and Oliver. That's a handball and a yellow without question in the Champions League and when he's at the World Cup this fall. So he spends probably 100 hours a year doing video training trying to apply the laws to what UEFA and FIFA want while on the weekend trying to apply a different standard in the PL.That handball award in the Forest game. Madness. And just sheer arrogance from Michael Oliver to see that again and not overturn it.
Just watching the Merseyside derby. Coady’s disallowed goal demonstrates everything that’s wrong with the VAR offside decisions. He doesn’t get it because his shoulder is literally cms ahead of Milner foot. He’s only 4 yards from goal and he scores with his foot. His shoulder has no bearing on him scoring. If someone scores with their shoulder or other body part fair enough but if they score with their foot then their shoulder, butt etc is has no relevance on whether they will reach the ball or not.
I'm not a fan of nitpicking over refereeing decisioms and not gonna lie, it annoys the fuck out of me. Oh if this isn't a red card, why was it a red card in 2021. Like fuck that, I ain't interested.
One thing though that I've always maintained and still not sure why it's not been implemented is if you can't tell its offside without the fucking lines, then it isn't offside. None of this line drawing. Fuckin fed up of line drawings and shit. Watch it a hundred time on replay, that's fine, but no fuckin line drawings. If you can tell it is offside then fine, otherwise goal stands.
That ship has sailed. Starting with our CL game this week there will be technology accurate enough to determine offside within a centimeter. The idea is that people accept when goal line technology says the ball is over the line by a centimeter and that they will need to learn to accept when this new accurate technology says a player was offside by a centimeter. The days of the VAR drawing the lines are about to end.
UEFA announced a couple weeks ago that will be in place for all of the Champions League group stage.OK and I despise that... I thought that was only in the world cup as a trial as it were. Its horrible.
I get that the lines are annoying, however, the goal line technology is matter of fact, so that is great.I'm not a fan of nitpicking over refereeing decisioms and not gonna lie, it annoys the fuck out of me. With the lines, all of a sudden offside is matter of fact.
If someone's armpit is offside, then it's offside. I've got no issue with the way VAR handles offsides.
Now, would it be better if the rule was changed so that rather than any legal part of the body in an offside position = offside, to any legal part of the body in an onside position = onside. I'd be open to that.
My main issue right now with the PL is that they claim to have this super high bar to intervene, but that goes out the window when it comes to removing a goal/PK/red card like we saw today and in past weeks. If you have a high standard to give a PK/red/goal when the ref has decided against it via VAR because it's not clear and obvious, then a similarly high bar needs to be set when the ref does give a PK/red/goal to overturn it via VAR. And that clearly isn't the same standard because if it was, Newcastle and West Hams goals are never removed. As for referees in general, I think it is being blown out of all proportion. Some decisions have been crap like the spammers one today but overall I still think our referees and how we ref the game is far better than on the continent and further afield. I thought the refs performance for our game earlier was good.
That works for me. I just find it annoying that a part of the body that has no involvement in scoring the goal is deemed to have given the scorer an advantage because it’s cms even mms ahead of the last defender’s bum!I'm not a fan of nitpicking over refereeing decisioms and not gonna lie, it annoys the fuck out of me. His arm (with the orange wristband) is extended away from his body blocking a clear shot on goal.
As fantastic a striker as Haarland is his overall play seems quite limited. Not good in the air and basically just an outstandingly brilliant striker with the ball at his feet.I still think Kane owuld have been much more suited to Man City than Haaland is to them. Kane would have added a bit more intelligence, creativitiy and unpredictableness in their play. Theyre a bit too - focussed on Haaland and its predictable
He barely moves either, he’s a fantastic goal scorer but offers little beyond scoring goals - which to be fair, he’s fucking amazing at.As fantastic a striker as Haarland is his overall play seems quite limited. It's beyond bad, and Tuchel thinks they got it spot on.
