Why is the US always the default? We hosted it 30 years before the last did.

2018 is in Europe so 22 can't be. Also they were runners up in the bid. Not too sure when they have previously been the default?

We were given a womens world cup in either 98 or 03, cant remember. But that was 6 months before the tournament took place. And it went off flawlessly, btw.

I think alot of people just dont want it to be in the US because of an anti american sentiment that runs all throughout European football. So they ignore that the US is probably the best place for it to be wrt stadia, hotels, ticketing, security, transportation, funding, etc.

Because we have the best infrastructure already in place with large stadiums, hotels, transit, etc. Most countries it takes years to build and plan for such an event. U.S. could pull it off with a few months notice if needed.

We are also the melting pot of the world with large migrant populations from every country in the World

'Murica!

Oh please... Do you think that Europe is stuck in the middle ages?

England, France, Germany, Italy could all pull it off with little notice... And we are talking about 2022, it's not like time is super limited. Give it to any decent sized and stable country and they would be able to do it.

If it wasn't for all the corruption, would think that the middle east should get a world cup. But I would have split it beween Qatar/Dubai and Abhu Dhabi. North America as a continent hasn't had one since 94. The US is best suited.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind the US doing it again. Last time they hosted it Sweden won bronze! I just though his post was very pompous.

The countries you named would probably be better able to hold a world cup. With little travel between venues and accessible to more football fans. London is the most visited city on the planet and by then will have 5 stadiums of over 55k capacity. Don't think any city can compare (although I'm sure someone might correct me).

What? The middle east should never get a WC! Too much instability, and the temperature. Just not suited for football. Also, Qatari's are dying every day during stadium construction.

UAE is stable, probably more so than the US. There are far less killings each year. Yes the deaths building the stadiums are a disgrace and should be sorted out. But at the end of the day it is a world cup . Each part of the world should have the opportunity to host it. The middle east never had it before. The temperature is a problem, but if it was spread over the 3 cities they would have been able to build everything indoor.

Qatar isn't part of the UAE.

It isn't Qatari's who are dying... It's immigrant workers, borderline slave workers actually.

Im sorry but what anti American sentiment. Everyone on this board and I spoken to over Europe says it should go to America or Australia. Russia bid may have been corrupt but because it was so clear that that the US or Aussie bids were so much better that there is this furore around Europe about Qatar.

The only reason why it shouldn't is because you hosted in 1994 but its clear that america is ready for the tournament and probably shouldn't of got it in 1994. One of the reason for them being ready is down to the fact soccer is becoming a respectable sport there. There are issues with the MLS structure and the way its run imo that I personally have serious issues.

However it no way the joke it use to be. America wants to be the best league and tbf it never will be the best league, purely because for American league to get stronger the North american leagues need to be stronger(CL is what makes europe the best in the world).

The UAE would be a much better place to host football since alot more people live there and there has been a history of big teams playing there

CL is what is destroying football in Europe.

No but Abu Dhabi and Dubai are. I said that I would have liked a world cup in the middle east shared by those cities (and possibly Bahrain).

No, for the exact same reasons I say no for Qatar.

Their is a massive anti american stigma throughout European football. Leagues, clubs and fans. There really is no denying that.

For example, if Aguedelo was anything other than American, he'd currently be a Stoke player.
