This is kind of heartbreaking between Poch and the club we are not interested in grabbing a chance at achieving success. We are only 7 points off Liverpool who are not playing well and just 2 points behind City. Why aren't we taking a chance on loans for six months. I just don't get it.. it makes a mockery of our moto as what we are doing is the opposite of "to dare is to do" why is our great club just rolling over and probably handing the title Liverpool without even a fight.

Because the sort of players who could make a real difference are not available on loan, or at all in January. You've got the likes of Tielemans and Malcom who are talented, but have both had awful times at their clubs this season, so will be low on confidence and need time and patience to find form. Plus we don't even have a non-HG spot in the CL squad anway after Foyth took Dembele's.

The real work is getting rid of the deadwood, clearing squad places, so along with players like Vorm and Llorente who will be out of contract, we'll have more room to sign non-HG players in the summer.

If we can pick up maximum points from our next two games before that break I think we'll have put ourselves in a great position, especially as Arsenal play City soon and United play Liverpool. It will be win win for us. If City and Liverpool drop points then our top 4 rivals don't lose too much ground on us (although the gap remains healthy) but we get ourselves in the title race again, if City and Liverpool win those games we give ourselves loads of breathing room.

With only 12 games remaining, a rest in between and the likely return of Kane and Alli shortly afterwards we should be able to look up and not down.

If Palace beat Doncaster which they should do we will have another break, and like 3 of the other top 6 we will also have to play a rearrangement but that extra break will do us good in my eyes anyway. Shame we play Dortmund on the week leading up to the next round of the FA Cup if we hadn’t I think some warm weather training would of done the squad a treat

I think we will be fine for top four but I think we're still involved. - We play Chelsea on 27/2 followed by Arsenal on 2/3. And those matches are sandwiched between the two matches against Dortmund. Any points dropped before then and they could be breathing down our necks. Luckily they both have Man City to play before then!

I think we play Chelsea after they've had a run of playing every three days or something like that. Hopefully that will be beneficial to us.

I'm hoping one of Kane or Dele will be back then too and that we will somehow (albeit unlikely) not suffer any more injuries.

We've pretty much had the entire squad out injured at some time or another so hopefully we've had our lot, I don't think any of the injured players have gone down again, maybe the rest did them good.

I think unfortunatly you misunderstood.
Its actually 'To dare is to do- on a shoe-string budget'.
See what we actually 'dare to do' is to go against the modern game and try to win with a zero net spend. So far it hasnt quite happened yet tho:sick:

What's heartbreaking for me is just how shortsighted people are.

Listen to Poch. He is not heartbroken. He is confident and proud that he is building something for us that will last beyond his time at our club.

Has he ever brought loans in? Is it something he wants or believes can truly benefit us at this stage?

In my opinion we are building up to success from the ground up and taking no shortcuts.

It’s true. Basically Levy and Poch are like that young couple you see on Grand Designs, who are building their dream home together. But it’s taken longer than expected because of construction problems, and they’re having to tighten their belts and live in a caravan on the site in order to get it finished.

Last time we did that they all came back with a stomach bug and drew 1-1 at Southampton. Classic Spurs :ROFLMAO:

But Poch hasn't won a trophy!!!!11???

Qualifying for CL is financially far more valuable than winning FA or League cups , winning those cups won't pay for the new stadium CL qualification will help . Poch speaks sense in today's football world winning domestic cup competitions is not high on the list of priorities, fans don't like to hear that but it's a fact. Portsmouth and Wigan are both fairly recent FA cup winners , what are they doing now.

All felt like it was getting a little worrying. And then suddenly after yesterday, we're 7 points clear of 4th and only 2 behind 2nd.

I think this really goes to show just how quickly things can change. Fight for 4th so far from over.

Alternatively, very little has changed. We lost two cup matches whilst being depleted and (perhaps) in both cases due to penalties. We've always been in a very strong position.

What's changed is the negativity of the fans. Not signing anyone is probably the main reason but also, you can't deny that our coverage in the media and during matches is usually unremittingly negative. Even when we win they find some way to allude to dangers ahead. Is it any wonder that it starts to rub off on people and when things do go bad they think the sky is falling in?

Very true.

But I think it was also the desperate (though extremely enjoyable) last gasp type wins over Fulham and Watford coming off the back of the loss to Man Utd sandwiching the double cup misery, clear lack of transfer window incomings and the injuries that made it seem like the chasing pack may hunt us down.

All feeling better now and you're right that actually we're just back to where we were. I do however feel like the Newcastle/Leicester/Burnley games are so vital to try and get 7pts from as after that we have Che/Ars/BVB and Liverpool all to come in March.

Out of 2 cups and we are up against dominant energetic Dortmund in CL. I wont be surprised if fail in U16 round. But this means, we play rest of the 3 months , 1 game every week with our strongest & fittest XI.
There is no way we are going out of 3rd let alone top4. I would even say we will finish above City.
Liverpool is difficult, given they are defensively so good this season. Moreover, when push comes to shove, we always falter. So, IMO no chance of title but top4 certain with a chance to come 2nd.

But he also said he wants to touch glory.
To be honest can't help thinking that we may just be coming to a good place, two massive players out in Kane and Dele but bit by bit the devastation is coming to an end with so many others back now. Hopefully we will navigate the next few weeks successfully and then we will have a terrific launchpad for the run in.

Said in the match thread too but 7 wins to beat last years points tally already. 13 games left too! Chelsea and Arsenal both have City in the next two matchdays so we can hope to have a 10 point lead with 11 games to go

(6 wins and 2 points to match last year but I dunno how the fuck you get single points)
