When he starts banging them in you'll soon forget about all this. Saying get rid of him is fucking madness. We need every bit of quality we have right now.

How many of Robbie Keane's goals would have been scored without Berbatov?

How many of Keane's other goals have been provided by our other strikers?

How 'good' was Berbatov last season?

Answers to these questions and more to anyone prepared to admit that he is actually a great player and far from the moody sod many of our less intelligent supporters would have us believe. Berbs could go to any club in the land for big money. If Drogba goes (likely) Chelsea will be all over him. Utd already are. We'd be muppets to lose him, and I don't think he's as desperate to get away as everyone says. If he is happy in his football and the club moving in the right direction (i.e. we get over this poor run) he'll stay for a couple of years.

Great comment, mate!

We need Berbs. Without him last season we'd have finished mid table. FFS how many points do people think he earned for us pretty much on his own. It wasn't as if he was finishing off great team moves. He scored and created so many for himself and made many for others that the alternative (Mido) simply wouldn't have. The board and certain fans seem to think a different coach is the key to our success, when reallity shows a very different stroy. If you want CL football, then you need CL standard players. When Berbs and Leds (our only truly quality players) played together last season we average 2pts per game (76 pro rata), which was easily good enough for 3rd place. The season before when Leds and Carrick (our only truly quality players) played together we averaged 2pts per game, which was easily good enough enough for 4th spot. When pur quality players were fit we didn't just have a points tally better than Arsenal we had a points tally comfortably better than Arsenal. In fact we shit on them. The difference between us was that we only had 1 Leds, so when he was injured we were screwed, whilst Arseanl had Toure and Gallas. When Berbs was out we didn't have a spare genius, whilst Arsenal had both RVP and Henry. It doesn't matter who the coach is, we can't afford to sell our quality players. When both Leds and Berbs are fit we are a top 4 standard team. If only we had kept Carrick as well.

Berba will leave IF he leaves....as simple as that. I, for one, would see it as a very serious sign of a lack of ambition, at WHL, if Berba leaves.....Ramos or not....there are still many more questions to be asked before we can again SMILE COYS!

from memory, I goal and four assists in his last 5 starts from Berbs

It's not our attack that's the problem, it's been the defence

but hey under Ramos just one conceded in 3 games - and that was a wonder goal - maybe things are on the up :)

If Berbatov wants to move on and won't produce his best for spurs then its simple, he has to be sold at the biggest profit possible.
He is capable of being world class but if he doesn't try then he simply isn't world class

I seem to remember a BL fan coming on here just after he arrived saying Berbs is fab when he's happy and things are going his way but be prepared to have a moody ***** on the pitch when they aren't. It looks like that's the Berbs we have right now.
To be honest he can be as miserable as he wants as long as he starts scoring on a regular basis. Like Steven says do you think ManU fans gave a shit that Cantona was a miserable git? Did they fook, the guy was a genius

What type of quality, good or bad?

I won't settle for bad quality, even if you do.

Can't understand the anti Berbs stuff, he's a great player on his day, and on an off day he's still better than most, are problems this season have been defensive, the frontline have scored goals and are collectively the only area in our side I'm happy with.

Now the midfield and defence, that is where the problems lie.

Yes, he's frustrating. Yes, he's a moody bugger, or at least gives a convincing impression of being one.

These are not entirely unknown qualities in top strikers.

Look i can see the frustration. He winds me up too, but we would have finished nowhere without the guy last season.

The bottom line is i think people are just venting too much frustration in his direction due to how we're performing right now. We knew he was a lazy fucker last season anyway. He's clearly not much of a fighter and that is a problem right now. But his laziness compared to our totally fucking shocking organisation at the back is nothing in comparison.

Hero to zero in a matter of weeks. How very Spurs.

The problems are at the back and in midfield, not up front. Mostly, they haven't been organisational ones, just unbelievably tossy individual errors. Sunderland's winner set the tone, with our three most experienced defenders contributing to the fuck-up.

Never mind, let's blame the strikers.

Good points, SS57.

I'd challenge anyone to name me 3 strikers/attacking/creative players who could 100% not be called either petulant, arrogant or moody.

I'll even give you one to start off: Michael Owen

I've thought all day and I can't think of any others (from the past 15 years, anyway)

Actually I think Michael Owen is quite moody, hence the absurd gambling and Johnny Wilkinsonesque mania for victory at all costs. You can see it haunting behind his eyes at world cups.

Ok, so lets wipe off Owen. And I'm not sure Avram Grant or Mourinho would agree with Sheva.

Les Ferdinand? He seemed like a pretty chilled dude (occasional flailing elbow apart).

Personally, I'm glad to see many reasonable fans expressing their support for Berba. He needs it.

My personal prediction: Berba needs 2 weeks to play as good as he played before that bad patch even though maybe not that consistent, and 2 months to play as good as never before.

There is a simple secret about Berbatov. His development as a player is not linear. He always goes through a bad patch before making a big leap in his career. He cannot progress without going through a crisis. More importantly, till now he has shown only flashes of what he is really capable of.
