JUANDE RAMOS is lining up a pair of Argentina stars to replace Darren Bent and Pascal Chimbonda at Spurs.

The Spurs boss is planning a £10million summer bid for Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito and a £4m move for Getafe defender Cata Diaz.

Milito, 28, was second top scorer in La Liga behind Ruud van Nistelrooy last season.

The older brother of Barcelona star Gabriel, he has scored four goals in 14 games for Argentina.

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson considered a move for Milito (right) in January but was put off by Zaragoza’s £18m asking price.

But Ramos’ Spanish connections could see Zaragoza sell in the summer at a more realistic figure. And Milito is eager to try his luck in England.

Getafe defender Diaz, 29, is also on Ramos’ wanted list as a replacement for Chimbonda.

Diaz can play at right-back, centre-half or wing-back and cost Getafe £3.5m from Boca Juniors. He has only four caps but holds a Spanish passport.

Milito would expect to be a guarenteed starter, so unless Berby goes I can't see this happening. Never heard of the right back, I'm in love with Alan Hutton though, and Gunter seems like decent back-up.

Jenas will only be 28/29 in 2012

I know but by then Huddlestone will have developed into the creative hub of a championship winning Spurs side, getting over 100 assists in a season, truly justifying media comparisons to the great Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle. The tenatious, workman-like O'hara will have developed onto the perfect partner for the Hudd, filling in gaps and scoring crucial goals with his deadly left foot. Both will be guarenteed England starters of course, and after leading Spurs to a league, FA cup and Champions League treble they will then lead England to glory in the 2012 European championships. I think they have a good chance of winning the World Cup with England in 2014 as well, but thats a little too far off for me to predict.

Nice touch of realism at the end VP, but you neglected to mention Hudd's 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, and O'Hara knocking up a cure for malaria in his garden shed in the same year.

I believe that it will be at the 2014 World Cup that prince William will announce his engagement to Juande Ramos' daughter, making her our future Queen.

The Royal wedding will quite naturally take place at Spurs state-of-the-art 65,000 seater stadium.

And we won't have signed any new players for 4 years?

I'm not over the moon about the continued "Diego Milito for Spurs" links. But he is an all-round striker in that he can hold the ball up and is decent in the air. He also has an outstanding goal-scoring record: 52 goals in 94 games for an upper-to-mid-table La Liga side, Real Zaragoza.

What Milito could do is play with Keane and with Berba. So, he makes sense from the squad point of view. It would complicate the Darren Bent situation, because Berba, Keano & Milito would probably rotate, leaving little playing time for Bent...

I've never really noticed Cata Diaz, but I would imagine he's being considered as a CB and squad defender. Even if we sell Chimbo, we've still got Hutton and the £4 million pound Gunter for RB, plus an entire team of LBs (if they're ever fit at once).

Can we keep this to the thread subject?

from wikipedia:

Diego is a complete forward, compared by many to have similar attributes to countryman Gabriel Batistuta and Italy's Luca Toni. Milito is powerful with a keen eye for goal, and is regarded as one of the finest headers of the ball in the modern game. As of January 2008, Diego is averaging better than a goal every two games for his current club, a statistic he achieved with his previous club

he sounds and looks like a good player, Milito and Berba upfront would be a strong front 2.

The Sun as the newspaper is starting their rumours early, as well as the Summer coming early.

might sound shit, but if you think about it it's funny!

Diego Milito is a good player. He's not a great player though, and the wikipedia comparison with Batistuta is a bit misleading. Batistuta in his prime was a fantastic, strong as an ox, rampaging centre-forward. Milito isn't in that class.

However, as I wrote above, he's a clever player who can hold the ball up and link play, as well as a very good finisher. So, if Berba needed a rest, Milito could play as the "fulcrum" striker (see B-C's 4-4-2 thread), and I'm sure Milito could also play alongside Berba.

I like the way its suggested that beacuse Ramos knows people in spain that the price will drop to a reasonable price.

real Zaragoza: we want 18 million
Ramos: come on its me your talking to
Real zaragoza: ok then 9 million

Hi JamestheYido.

Some rep on it's way for the CFC 'priceless' signature.
