When other clubs are doing a Leeds, a Newcastle, a Portsmouth, Levy has pretty much guaranteed our continuing survival and progress. The Jol affair's the only major stain on his copybook. 8/10

I think Levy knows he screwed up the Jol situation. There was an ITK snippet that we have a list of managers who we would consider when/if Harry leaves, and Jol is on that. Having read an interview with him in 442 I think he would come back as well.

I voted 8. I still remember the shambles that was Irving Scholar and it makes me shudder. Big Al saved us and did a fairly good job financially but apart from the odd glimour of hope, we didn't show a lot on the pitch. DL has done a great job financially and the team has been near the top end of the table more than the bottom recently. He loses two points for the complete lack of style in the way he handled the BMJ episode.

I have given him an 8.

We are the blueprint for how a club in the Premier League, or any other league for that matter should be run. Finacially secure, whilst still being able to spend big money on transfers. Not many clubs can do that, and the reason for this is Daniel Levy.

Whatever people think of him, he has the best interests of the club and the fans at heart. Yes, the whole Jol affair was shocking they way it was handled. It stained us as a club, but this is football and it happens. Look at Mark Hughes.

BUt he wants us to be an Elite club, constantly top 4, this is why he back s the managers in the window (apart from Hoddle), we have the plans for the new stadium in place, the new training facilty. We have the best group of players we have sen at the club for the last 20 years. All of this without a super rich Sheik backing him.

So I am pleased with with what he is trying to acheive and if it works out, we will all win from him being at the helm.

Short version - he made mistakes in the past, but has been fantastic in the last few years. 7/10

8 - done some great deals and some bad ones.

I think other clubs are scared of him at times, but sold some key players for a prfit that has cost us even more IMO

+1 for me.

I think the fact we are so stable financially, which can in turn be linked back to Alan Sugar, is testament to Levy's good work as a chairman. I think looking at Pompy in particular, whilst i don't see them quite on our scale size wise, it shows how easily a premier league club can slide into difficulty and dare i say ruin.

I think we've made some excellent steps forward with the stadium and training ground plans and with a bit of faith in Arry, i think we have a big future ahead which is in no small part down to Levy.

As a businessman he has been excellent. We're financially stable, he always makes good money available for transfers, we have done great work with the acadamy, and we're on our way to building a new state of the art Stadium. And i believe he has done his best to please the fans. Whether it was to replace Graham with Hoddle (the fans choice), or keep from signing the likes of Barton and Bellamy. But he has made mistakes and i dont think he has been patient enough with managers. Certainly not Martin Jol. And i think he allowed Comolli to get his own way when i dont think he deserved it.

Overall i'm happy. I'd give him an 8/10

8 for me. To get any higher there would have to have been more trophies in the cabinet but he is falling just short of that for now, no bad thing considering how far we've come under his reign. Also loses the points for the Jol thing and for looking like a German Bond villian.

Don't agree the Jol thing was such a disaster as others here . The man had clear flaws at the time which are all now forgotten . The strategy was top 4 , the season start was terrible . Ramos had a wonderful record at that moment and then got us our only silverware since Pontius was a pilot .

Didn't turn out in the end of course and Levy made another early season manager change which has this time , worked well .

MJ could well have learned more since his time with us and I have no problem with him being considered in the future .

Hows it going at Ajax anyone ? took Atouba with him from Hamburg I hear Eek

Solid 7 from me.

Very happy with his financial side. loses 1 point for the treatment of the Jol sacking and loses 2 points for hiring Comolli

9/10 as most he lost a point for the BMJ saga. When i see Everton/Liverpool not being able to buy players or Pompey and WHU being knee deep in debt and then seeing our sound business plan i am able to get over the pain of the BMJ and see as a chairman with some flaws.

good thread. Levy deserves all the praise/appreciation coming his way.

6 for me, he has improved so there is a case for 7 but he employed DC and stuck by him when he should have been fired long before he was so loses points for that

For years we never sorted the LW issue or the DM issue and this allowed the club to stagnate, while it was DC's fault the buck stops with Levy but he is improving

I literally could not wait for Matt C to find this thread......I am shocked you gave him a 6 though!

You are right that the 'buck stops with Levy' but not sure how you can blame him for not signing a LW or DM.....that's not his job.

To 'Gilzeanking'......I don't think people are marking him down for actually sacking Jol, it's more to do with how the story was allowed to get out during half time of an important game and the saga that followed.

Half time? We were talking about it in the pub before the game! But yeah, you're right about the reasoning.

Oh really? I didn't have SC in my life at that point, I only found out via a screenshot sent to me at half time of the SSN ticker.......I must have passed my phone around 20 people in the Park Lane who were asking for a look!
