Good post, Teesside1. I'd have to agree with virtually everything you said there.
Good post, Teesside1. I'd have to agree with virtually everything you said there.
I said "virtually everything". I didn't think Pienaar was horseshit. I thought he was painfully average.
But I certainly felt they had the better chances.
It was his first game with a CB playing behind him at a tough place like Newcastle. Some nice touches with good awareness regarding his passing.
I thought he gave the ball away very cheaply at times and provided very little in the way of incision.
And apparently VDV was a disgrace, Modric got shoved off the ball tooeasily, we never counter attacked and our wide stood on our FB's toes, yeah really good post. Not easy to counter attack when you have nearly 65% of the ball! Oh but when we did we scored and it was from a winger who was always stood on his FB's toes.
Something doesn't add up from that really good post.
What I saw on Sky, showed me that we were by far the superior team and with a cutting edge in the first half, we could have been out of sight.
Too be honest, they didn't create a huge amount. Their goal was an error, or a combination of errors, firstly Hutton and then Cudicini's weak flap at a ball fired straight at him.
I thought Lennon and Modric were excellent. What I saw of Defoe suggested that he was involved a lot more than some previous games. I still think he is currently our best option as a striker.
I was at the game and we were shite.
We were lucky to get a draw, if they could finish, we'd of been 3 -1 down at half time.
Ameobi spooned two good chances over the bar and Best? hit the bar. Defoe had his usual effort straight at the gk.
Yes, Modric hit the bar and Lennon got the equaliser but not before Ranger and Lovenkrands ballsed up good chances and Newcastle's ineptness to finish 3 on 1 counter attacks.
We were clueless all game. Every time we got out wide, we didn't cross because there was only midget Defoe in the box. We hardly counter attacked because Lennon and Pienaar were always stood a few yards from our full backs.
Van der Vaart was a disgrace, spent most of his time on the floor and complaining to the ref.
Modric tried, some nice passes and a good effort but again, also got shoved off the ball to easy.
Jenas, don't want to talk about him, grrr.
Lennon ... good goal and other than Modric, the only one of our attacking players that looked partially interested.
Cudicini - past his sell by date.
Bassong did well at left, Dawson and Gallas looked assured too.
Hutton, other than getting skinned for the goal, he played well ... some good interceptions.
Defoe ran and ran ... no service other than long balls which he had no chance against to 2 six foot centre backs.
Pienaar was horse shit, couldn't cross, pass or shoot ... another that spent more time on his arse than his feet.
Crouch - on a par with Jenas.
Kranjcar? why the hell bring him on? We needed targets in the box .... Kaboul should've been the emergency striker.
Bale, devastated when he went off ... he was getting acre's of space ... Bassong (wouldn't expect him too) and Pienaar were completely ineffective on the left wing.
Newcastle, there a poor side but they worked really hard and made us look distinctly average.
I agree with a lot of this.
I think Kranj did OK though.
Glad someone noticed Hutton had a great game apart from that freak goal. It was an amazing bringdown and shot. I don't think anyone could have defended against that technique. It can be a cruel game, and it pretty much undid everything Hutton did via the fickle fan reactions. He did get a bit shakey in the last 10 mins, but that was because we had every attacking player on the pitch. Kinda paid off as it got the equalizer. But it could easily have backfired.
This was a record for Defoe. He's never gone so long without scoring a goal.
Modders was great. It was an every changing chaotic team around him and he played his part well.
From a team aspect we should be ashamed. This was a weakened Newcastle. I hope this drop in form does not make us do our usual panic buy in the last day of the transfer season.
Have you got any stats to back up these statements?
You'll know when Dawson's been below par cos the bloke writes a book about it, when he's had a good game(most weeks) last last week, he can't string three words together about him.
Best ignored to be honest.
BBC said Newcastle had 61% possession, have they ballsed that up?
How's this:
Of the 11,000 people who post on SC, 9 are bright enough to know that Dawson isn't the second coming of FranzBeckenbauer.
Of the 11,000 posters on SC, 1 poster actually thinks Dawson is better than FranzBeckenbauer, and will cyber stalk anyone who thinks otherwise.
I've just watched the highlights of this game, admittedly only about 4 minutes of it, but it looks to me as though Carlo played a blinder and really saved our arses..?
Oh, and people should really ignore Teeside and jon, they're clearly not Spurs fans and only come on this forum with the intention of saying the most ridiculous things they can think of.
