Good first half as we we won and did not concede an away goal to them. We only have to draw the second half away at their ground and we will be in the quarter finals

Lamela my MOTM

Ref = -∞

Diabolical performance, our players were in constant danger.

edit: but really well done to all the lads for keeping professional and getting the job done. Cooler heads than mine.

Hard to choose a player that stood out as motm. I thought it was one of those all round good team performances where everyone played well.

Poor old Tanguy is going to be sore in the morning !

A very professional job well done. Was especially pleased to see Serge do so.well after injury.

Got a good feeling seeing Ledley giving.the subs their instructions too.

Good run of form, hopefully continues into the next match!

I gave it to Ndombele because I enjoyed every time he got the ball.
Double, triple up on him and he was still getting away from them, until they started kicking him...

Lamela and Kane were great.
Everyone had a good game, shape of the team is looking stronger.

That run where he had to be stopped by a human wall was immense.

Ps Bergwijn - no excuses, just so poor , given many chances over the season and throws it back in the face of the manager
I agree and disagree. He certainly has had loads of chances and in the more Conservative, tactical aspects of the game he does a good job. His problem seems to be confidence in the final third. There is a player there and I think Jose still believes he can coach him towards his potential.

He needs to take more risks I think.

I don't see how you've come to that conclusion, he did well in his cameo, should have had a goal and an assist, at least he's getting into positions and looking more confident.

Kane's the difference-maker so probably deserves MOTM.
Lamela was good in the first half; keeping the ball well and created the first goal.
Bale was a class above the rest; the second half was mostly a bore except for that left footed cross into Berwgin; a real moment of skill.

Other mentions
Tanguy: he wants to beat players to get forward and won some fouls; but I'd prefer to see that higher up the pitch.
Sanchez: played well
Aurier: Got forward well and made a difference with the cross to Kane too.

Overall I felt the opposition was underwhelming. They didn't pose a goal threat and it was comfortable for us.

He contributed marginally less than Dele

Lloris - 7 - Fine, no problems. Dealt with what he had to.
Aurier - 7 - Good workrate, final ball a little off but 1st game back so few complaints.
Sanchez - 8 - Looking better now, making good decisions.
Dier - 7 - Phew.
Davies - 7 - Best game for a while
Sissoko - 9 - Stood in really well for PEH. Best game this season.
Ndombele - 7 - Gave us great control, though the swerve and turn was a little overused today. Kicked all over too.
Dele - 6 - Decent first 15 then faded out and never really got going again. No lack of effort, just didn't work today.
Lamela - 7 - Great run for the goal, great work rate, but more effective off the bench.
Son - 7 - Still looks like he needs a week off. Nothing wrong particularly, just seems 5% down.
Kane - 9 - Don't really need to explain that.

Subs - 6/7 - Whatever.

Overall - 8/10 -Professional first leg performance.

MOTM - Sissoko. Kane did what we expected of him, Sissoko didn't.

Davies last ditch block is worthy of a mention. That was superb defending. However, other than that, he is still very weak in other aspects of his game. Will probably be better as a LCB than a LB or LWB

Kane MOM. Lamela did really well and Dele worked hard. No bad performances and a clean sheet was very positive. Shame Hojbjerg is out of the 2nd leg though.
