Kane MOM. Lamela did really well and Dele worked hard. No bad performances and a clean sheet was very positive. Shame Hojbjerg is out of the 2nd leg though.
Could also be a blessing in disguise. I already feared a scenario in which he was suspended for, let's say, Ajax away in the quarter finals. We will be fine in Zagreb without Hojbjerg.

To the extent that he maybe even knew what he was doing... very obvious yellow.

Kane was spectacular, especially in that first half, he was playing in midfield and upfront. Some great passing, two goals, how anyone doesn't vote him mom is insane.

Lamela did well, Tanguy was good but he was being kicked all over the place in that second half, José was right to sub/protect him.

I thought generally it was a very professional performance, Zagreb were organised but nothing special.

Kane and hoijberg won't be playing in the second leg.

I actually thought Davies and son did well on the left as well. No bad performances but Dele didn't do anything to warrant a starting spot.

Full strength against arsenal (bar lo celso), Lucas has earned his start as the AM.

Sissoko deserves a bit of praise and played well. I thought José got the team selection and subs spot on.

I
Not sure if you're being real or not- but I wouldn't put it past them to get a booking so that he can have a full rest next week
Its not about getting a rest. Its about getting a yellow now rather than in the next leg or in the quarters and thus missing a more crucial match. Thats a tactical decision.

Didn't give it to Harry Kane
because he does no more than expected.
2 goals is par.
No assists either.
Slack.

I'll politely disagree. It means he finally gets a much needed 90 minutes rest.

The boys did what was necessary last night. It was all about keeping a clean sheet, and a couple of goals were a lovely bonus.

Zagreb have no choice but to have a go at us in the next match and, with our attacking players being in the form that they're in, along with our counter attacking ability. In short, they're fucked!

Best I have seen from Davies - better linkup with the forwards....less crosses hitting the first man....solid and intelligent defensively. I had thought Regulon the better option, but at this level of performance it makes selection a hard decision.

Plenty of players excelled: Ndombele, Lamela, Bale briefly, Sissoko, Davies and Aurier, but Kane was a step above them all. On another day, Ndombele or Lamela could easily have been man of the match,. but not when Kane is playing like that.

It continues to be frustrating to watch Bergwijn play so well in midfield and then get the yips every time he has a chance to shoot or cross. We know he can do it. I'm not sure he knows he can do it.

An article on Ndombele today in The Athletic describes him as a "foul magnet" and has scathing words for the referee's lack of protection and VAR's failure to award the obvious penalty. No one will be surprised to hear that Jack Grealish is miles ahead of everyone else in the Premiership "gets fouled" table, but Ndombele is 9th and most of the rest of the top 10 are attacking players, especially wingers.

Dinamo were getting pretty industrial by the last quarter of that game and the ref did nothing to stop it at any point in the 90 minutes. We coped well and kept playing football.

Lloris - 6 - Nothing to do, nice quiet night.
Aurier 7 - Steady and reliable. When he doesn't make the silly individual errors he is great to have but we know one massive clanger is coming...
Sanchez & Dier - 7 - Will never be a fan of each because we know the mistakes will come but cant ask more than that from them. Toby still has to play with one or the other in bigger games.
Davies - 7 - The difference between him and Regi is staggering but that interception was as good as a 3rd goal.
Sissoko 7 - Great in there when breaking play up, giving it to tanguy. Never understood why Jose has preferred Winks to Sissoko in that holding role when PEH not available.
Ndombele - 7 - Great talent but spent most of the game on his backside (not his fault mind you!). Incredible ball to Aurier for Kane 2nd.
Lamela - 8 - Looking better and better. Its such a shame he cant stay fit for a lengthy period of time. Perfect sub in last 20mins of big games.
Dele - 5 - Horrible. Looked way off it. Not his night.
Son - 6 - Always dangerous but looks in desperate need of a week off. Should be nowhere near that pitch next Thursday unless we are in trouble.
Kane - 9 - MOTM - Best player I think i've ever seen in a Spurs shirt now. Complete footballer. Very lucky he is so loyal.

Subs (no ratings)

Bergwijn - Thought Clive Allen's analysis of his chance was harsh, done all he could. Can tell he is low on confidence but getting in right positions. Great ball for Bale chance at end.
Bale - Pure class. Every time he got the ball he looks a class above. Should have scored at the end.
Hojbjerg - TACTICAL YELLOW. Clean slate if we do progress.
Lucas - Simply not a winger anymore. Has to be central whether he starts or comes on.
Vinicius - Worked hard but should've done better with chance at the end.

Overall job well done but slightly disappointed we didn't kill them off with 3 or 4 and could rest most players for next week. Absolutely guaranteed we will concede early and make it nervy. But one goal SHOULD do it.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought all the yellow cards were reset in the last 8. So the people saying it was a tactical yellow by Hojbjerg so he doesn’t miss the first leg of the last 8 if he got booked next week - all that Jose had to do was not play him next week anyway. Same outcome no?

The commentator mentioned it last night. I found this on Google which was from last year so I assume it’s still in place for this year.

Edit - it is for this year’s competitions because the date is August 2020.
