The defence works as a unit, week after week, so I can't justify giving out negative scores because of individual defensive errors when we keep keeping clean sheets (12 out of 15 matches this season - we had 14 all last season from 54 matches)
Is that right?

If so, that's a fucking incredible stat.

Voted for Dembele, we were turgid in the first half. Less turgid in the second after he came on. Not that anyone on the pitch deserved more than a 7, we were just not very good, quite poor in fact. But the result was all that matters I guess

Lennon is an alternative option and you've just ditched him! Townsend cuts inside and shoots, Lennon looks to run in behind or attack on the outside, exactly what we need to be doing.

He's had 8 years to perfect this, and he still is about as consistent as Nick Clegg

Seriously?! I'm about to leave this place (that i love so much) if the moaning doesn't stop!

"Avb zero..."
"Avb out"
"We suck"

Etc etc

We won. 3 points. Avb will gets a 10 from me everytime we win. He got it right: 3points - the maximum return we Could Get from this game.

Also, didn't he sub the underperforming Sandro at halftime? Most have been moaning about Avb not changing players early enough. He used all subs before 75. It almost cost us, playing with ten men for 10 minutts.

Managers doesn't use all their subs normally in case something like this happens. AVB did everything he Could today and btw: almost everybody was happy with the selection prior to the game.

When Townsend pushed away the medical team to run back out on the Pitch I almost cried!!
That desire! That's my MOTM! That's my new favourite player....!

No he didn't.

I love AVB but let's not pretend he's immune to criticism.

Otherwise, if he had it got it right we wouldn't of been in a game of such fine margins.

I.e almost dropping 2 points in the last kick of the game.

Of course he's not immune to criticism, but When people are talking about kicking him out After getting us over 2 points per game I see no realism in the discussion.

Do you really think Avb says to the players: have minimal movement, don't create chances, and so on?

Also, remember that hull is a decent team pt. I watched their game away at man city. They lost 2-1, but deserved a point or maybe Even 3.

We played great Against Norwich at home, Chelsea first half and pretty decent Against villa. We have a lot of new players, and we play sunday, thursday, sunday every week. I believe in Avb, both to turn us in to a top 4 team, but also to make us play entertaining. Just support him and be patient.

By this point we should have been 5-0 up and willing Huddlestone to score... :D

Seemed quicker build-up today mainly due to Chichi but when we got there we forgot what we'd gone for.
I do that but I've got good reasons, though I've forgotten what they are. Not good to watch and I still believe that if you play good football you will earn more points. I'd take my chance on that
At least you entertain the fans whether you win or not.

Lloris.........6..Usual, nothing to do and did it with aplomb.
Walker.......6..Usual, didn't do a lot but did it moderately well.
Dawson.....6..Usual, A bit frightening at the end.
Chiriches....7..A breath of fresh air with a hint of imminent disaster. MOM for enterprise
Verts.........6.5..Unexcitingly competent.
Townsend...6..Boys a trier but not much came off today. Neat disappearing trick at the end.
Holtby........6.. Floated about today like a butterfly and stung like a.......... butterfly.
Sandro.......5...All his worst features on prominent display today.
Paulinho......5.5. Lost his way since early games.
Lennon.......5.5..Usual. high speed journey but no arrival destination.
Soldado......5.5.. Fluffed only chance. Good job we're getting penalties this season.

Defoe.........5...No impact whatsoever.
Dembele.....6.5. Reassuring presence. Should have started for Sandro.
Eriksen........6...Looks more inventive even when he's not inventing.

Turgid......like watching the Titanic do a turning circle....slow and laborious. I dont know but AVB is turning into the Goonersaurus for me. One nil to the Tottenham!

Jan by a whisker from Andros and Vlad. The rest were poor. Bruce set his team up well but Andre's job is to set his up to counter. I dont think he did that very well at all. We have so many flair players - why the hell cant we move them around? Get them to run around a bit Andre FFS.

this web site had some interesting stats

http://thepremierleagueowl.com/tottenham-vs-hull-city-individual-player-statistics/

Not convincing, but three points all the same – here are the statistics from White Hart Lane as Spurs benefit from a terrible penalty decision to overcome Hull.
– Kyle Walker had 98 touches of the ball, more than any other player.
– George Boyd and Andros Townsend each had 4 shots, more than any other players.
– Lewis Holtby created 3 goal-scoring opportunities, a game-high.
– Vlad Chiriches and Jan Vertonghen each won 4 aerial duels, the most in the game.
– Aaron Lennon completed 95% of his passes, a game-high.
– David Meyler made 6 successful tackles, the most in the game.
– Tom Huddlestone led the game with 3 interceptions.
– Michael Dawson, Vlad Chiriches, and Curtis Davies made 6 defensive clearances each, the most in the game.
– Ahmed Elmohamady and Roberto Soldado each committed a game-high 3 fouls.
– Tom Huddlestone attempted (7) and completed (2) more crosses than any other player.
– Vlad Chiriches attempted (12) and completed (11) more long passes than any other player.
– Andros Townsend completed 8 successful dribbles, no other player managed more than 1.
– Tom Huddlestone was the most-dispossessed player in the game (5).

It's hard for them to move sitting on the bench.

It would help if they were in the team! :D

Hardly surprising when he's had Defoe not attacking the 6 yard box like a striker should and now he's stuck on the left so he can't play it into the 6 yard box for the striker we've got who does attack it.

Spock would raise his eyebrow at that one.

2 - Nothing new there then :p But I wish other players would have a crack too
3 - Surprised at that to be honest, can't really remember any
4 - They were pretty solid
5 - Those 2 yard back passes are difficult to be fair
11 - One of the only positive players
12 - Guessing he still has the most in the league? Beats people for fun
13 - Game plan was definitely to close him down asap and we did that to an extent, but he still managed to put in a MOTM performance

Vlad MotM for me, though Townsend and Soldado deserve a mention for being literally the only players today to try and make something happen.

When we lost to West Ham people were quick to point out the 3,500 mile round trip the previous Thursday to at least in part explain a lacklustre performance.

It appears that, maybe because we've won, people have forgotten the 3,300 mile round trip that much of the team/squad participated in last Thursday.

Lloris 7
Walker 6.7
Dawson 6.7
Chiriches 6.0 - to many mistakes
Vertonghen 6.7
Townsend 6.5 - no end product again, 5 men in the box so he has a shot into the stands again!
Holtby 6.0 - all sideways passing
Sandro 6.0 - was getting exposed covering for Chiriches
Paulinho 6.7
Lennon 6.2 - was on the wrong wing for the first half, plain daft, should have started on the right
Soldado 6.5 - no service yet again (one chance)

Dembele 6.7
Eriksen 6.5
Defoe - can't score him I don't think he touched the ball

Ref: 8 - Top man

5.0
Really? Are you one of those posters who pre-determine what points you are going to give a player and the comments irrespective of how they play? No more or less than the others. Check the polls.
