Notable mention to Dembele. He didn't do much on the ball but tracked Rooney brilliantly for the last 20 minutes.

Rose 5

Dembele 7
Adebayor 7
Soldado 8

Bentaleb 6

Finding it difficult to split Chiriches and Eriksen but I have to give man of the match to Vlad given he way playing in between Dawson and Rose. Rose was abysmal today and Dawson is Dawson, but Vlad managed to keep it all together with an absolute masterclass in defending. The goal we did concede was so poor defensively and Vlad does have to take some of the blame for that, but other than that he didn't put a foot wrong all game, he did absolutely everything right. I couldn't quite believe how bad Rose was today, I hope he was just not fit because it was worrying. United picked up on it big time and not only played everything out to their right winger, but also started getting two players wide right to just tear him to pieces, and it was working.

Going forward, Eriksen was brilliant. He and Soldado used the ball so well and Adebayor played well enough too, but he really needs to work on his ball control. It bounces off him too much resulting in a loss of possession. Eriksen was instrumental in both our goals and for that reason I feel he was our best attacking player -great performance and marked it with a goal when he capitalised on a Valencia's shocking defending. He gave us the opportunity to win and Vlad made sure we took it.

Lennon was good again today, he seems to love playing against United. Special mentions for Walker and young Harry Kane, too. I was questioning why Tim brought Kane on but to be fair he did a really good job when he came on and I loved when he just booted the ball away into the crowd just to waste a few more seconds.

Very pleasant surprise in that we got the win. When we conceded a minute after scoring what should have been the goal that made things comfortable, I was fully expecting United to draw level and then maybe even win it, so to hold out was great. That's two years in a row we've won at Old Trafford so I'm a happy man.

Nice report. Thanks

Good away effort by the team on a whole playing at Old Trafford against the defending champions..

Good start to 2014 COYS!!

How on earth did you give Vlad 6? He was up there for MoM. In fact, i Think BT gave it to him...

Agree with this. Thght he was ok against Valencia, but Januzaj was dicking all over him.

All united's attacks were pretty much coming down our left, and mainly due to Eriksen drifting centrally to help out the MF battle.

Indeed. In the 2nd half every time Rooney got the ball he looked to ping it across to Januzaj who was staying very wide, stretching the play. He needs to work on that side of his game definitely, but he's not had a lot of games lately and is probably still feeling rusty.

I don't normally do these, but heck I really loved the performance today.

Lloris - 8 - he kept us in the game with a couple of good saves, and nearly gave me heart attacks, but I wouldn't have any other keeper in the league.

Walker - 7.5 - consistent good performance from Kyle. Kept Januzaj quiet in the first half, and I didn't hear Valencia's name really in the second half.

Rose - 6.5 - Kept Valencia quiet in the first half, but was taken apart often by Januzaj. Made a couple of mistakes though.

Dawson - 8 - One of his stellar performances. Totally commanded the back line and was a true leader. Strong in the tackle and header, and generally didn't get beaten for pace like everyone thought.

Chiriches - 8 - Shaky first half, impressive second half.

Dembélé - 7 - Moussa did nothing spectacular. But didn't really make any huge mistakes either.

Capoue - 8 - The first 20 minutes was shaky, but after that he decided to annoy Shrek and our team got a lot of joy from it. Was a shame he was taken off

Lennon - 8.5 - Played incredibly well. His pace and skill (when did Lennon get those?) was great. I geniuinely think it's because we have competition for him now that he's coming good.

Eriksen - 8.5 - He's looking more and more like Modric every time I see it. Looked so classy, and got a goal and assist.

Adebayor - 8 - Was in donkey mode until he got his goal, then he went into true footballer mode.

Soldado - 7 - Made the runs, got the chances, missed them. Ahhhhhhhhh! How isn't he scoring? Anyway, he looks really composed on the ball and has a decent passing range - if he just puts the ball in the back of the net then he's like a Spanish Berbatov.

Bentaleb - 6.5 - Didn't impress as much as last time but it's not his fault he got chucked into the team at the time he did.

Chadders - 6.5 - Another substitute that didn't do much. And didn't have the chance.

Kane - 7 - Did as much as the other substitutes, but that moment when he was a country offside and just booted the ball away earns him an extra half rating. Well done son!

Overall, it was a great defensive performance. The lads really dug in deep, and we deserved to win. And now that's twice in two years we've won at Old Trafford, and they haven't beaten us in two years!

Really? I thought Kane did exceptionally well when he came on and didn't put a foot wrong apart from at the end when he knocked it out. Really worked hard to close united down at the back and as soon as he came on put pressure on their defence (i.e when he charged down Evans who kicked it out). At the time we were really under the cosh and those little things really helped ease the pressure a little. Soldado had run his shift so it was definitely the right sub for me (albeit a risky one).

I really do like TS' faith in our youngsters.

Was just about to write a similar reply to this. Totally agree, he was just what we needed at that time.

Lloris 8- well done. Mom
Walker 8- Ran his socks off. Is so much Better.
Dawson 8- Rock.
Chiriches 8- Did well.
Rose 7- Didn't look 100% fit.
Lennon 7- Missed a sitter otherwise excellent.
Dembele 7- Did well tired.
Capoue 8- Protected the back 4. Battled.
Erikssen 8- Good finish. Kept position ticking.
Soldado 5- Ineffective. missed a good chance
Adebayor 8- Good finish. worked his socks off. Please be fit for sat.

subs
Bentaleb 7- He shored things
Kane 7- Held ball up well
Chadli 7- Did well.
Misses one chance and gets a 5? Tough fucking gig.

Clearly you don't really follow football if you are rating Soldado's performance as 5/10

Soldado played some key passes today and if Lennon (who was excellent) had more finesse, he would of had yet another assist.

Vlad had a great game but needs to learn that he can't always play out of tight spots. Was very nearly left with egg on his face. Other than that was terrific. Dawson led by example but for me Adebayor worked his nadgers off. Keep dangling that contract Mr Levy!

Lennon motm almost as much for his contribution defensively as his very sharp attacking instincts. Ade once he scored was excellent but was a little enigmatic early on and to start with couldn't trap a bag of cement...but then the whole side were like that. Great credit to them though as they all got better and better.

Eriksen showed he is much more all round player than perhaps we expected and Soldado more than just a goalscorer. Hard to give anyone ratings less than 8 except maybe Danny Rose but he was up against by far the best united player; and maybe Vlad for some early sloppiness and going missing for the goal

I was going to go for Ade, until the last 20 minutes under the cosh when our defence was solid. Chiriches really impressed today. Superb positioning and timing with the tackle. So he nicks it for me.

Webb had a good game too..,.., Especially since many of us expected the usual Utd bias.

Not got a bad thing to say about any of the lads today, i'm going to sit back with a cheeky grin and enjoy the win.

We really saw the Ferguson factor today and how much they miss it. Webb did call a really good match. If Ferguson had been there, would a United played have been carded for diving? And blowing the whistle at under 5' with 5' of stoppage time, and United trailing. It really is a new era for them, they must not be enjoying it!

As for the ratings it was a great team effort and can't fault anyone much. Lennon has so much the beating of Evra, does it every time, love it.

Wow, Timmy's got some balls. Throwing on Bentaleb and Kane in a game like this where we need to hold on to a lead - at Old Trafford no less - takes some fucking massive cojones. It's clear that he really trusts these kids, and although it's obvious that neither are the finished article yet (Bentaleb slightly nearer than Kane), their determination and work rate certainly cannot be questioned and I'd love to see more of both in the second half of the season.

The game was intense. As per usual we concede a goal straight after we score ourselves, giving away the initiative in a game we could, with a bit more nous, have shut down completely. But we all know that that's how Spurs always have done it, and probably always will. Having said that Welbeck's run across the defence and chip over Lloris was excellent, although you have to say that Dawson shouldn't stop tracking him just because he moves over to Chiriches' side.

When Moyes threw the kitchen sink and moved Rooney down into midfield I thought that would be the decisive factor in their comeback. Rooney started dominating the midfield and playing some fantastic balls, but Dembele in particular got at him eventually and I think that was vital in our holding on.

Adebayor, after a start with some poor touches, was massive and I really hope he's not out for long. Honourable mention to Vlad, who had a shocker v West Brom but come back fighting and did superbly today.

Lloris - 7 - Would be an 8 but for the absolutely stone wall penalty on Young. Couldn't believe it when that wasn't given but after the Mendes goal, the Nani goal and a few shocking penalties at OT it was about bloody time that luck was on our side.

Walker - 7 - Consistently good.
Dawson - 7 - Had one donkey moment at the start of the second half and possibly partly at fault for the goal, although as I said Welbeck's run was excellent. Very good otherwise.
Chiriches - 8 - Imperious, excellent display. Did touch Welbeck when he went down in the box but for me Welbeck threw himself to the ground.
Rose - 6 - I noticed that he's a lazy fecker when it comes to tracking back after he's lost the ball. Did alright v Valencia but struggled v Januzaj. Not his best game for us.

Lennon - 7.5 - Good assist for Eriksen, that charge into the box was terrific. Good first half but apart from the assist a rather more anonymous second.
Capoue - 8 - Worked really well with Dembele, didn't like that he went off.
Dembele - 7.5 - A bit quieter than Capoue but his getting at Rooney late on was vital.
Eriksen - 8 - Great determination for the goal, worked very hard and showed some great stuff as well.

Adebayor - 8.5 - MOTM - Despite being forced off early (hope he can recover quickly) he was my MOTM for an absolutely massive display again and a superbly taken goal.
Soldado - 7 - That pass to Lennon first half was pure sex, assist of the season if Lennon finishes it. Getting into good areas but still oh, so unlucky with the finishing. It HAS to go his way soon.

---

Bentaleb - 7 - As mentioned in the write-up, not quite there yet but his raw talent and determination cannot be questioned and he was never stressed.
Chadli - 6.5 - Relatively anonymous.
Kane - 7 - Much the same as Bentaleb, and the cheeky booting into the stands when he was offside (perfectly legal, btw) was brilliant. Did a good hassling job, let's hope his next game is one where he can come on and get some goalscoring chances.

Lennon MOM. Followed by Ade.

Dembele though was nowhere to be seen, a huge contrast to the last game. He coulve and shouldve done more IMO

And Sherwood was damn lucky. The substituions were poor and too risky.

But a win's a win. At OT makes it even sweeter. I love my Spurs.
Not sure Dembele is fit enough for 2 good games in a week, it's been like that all season, maybe his hip can't take it.

No doubt my MOTM will definitely be Lennon though. By fuck is he making things happens for us now. My only gripe is his shooting, should of had at least one goal today but he should have had several assists to his name over the last two games.

Soldado 5- Ineffective. missed a good chance

I don't usually comment on these ones, because we all see the games so so differently. But 5 for Soldado today was just something I can't understand. He missed a great chance again, yes, but IMO you can't judge a player according to one incident.

Soldado was very much involved in both of our goals and showed great passing once again. After AVB got sacked Soldado has actually been one of our most creative players out there and works a lot. He has also missed quite a lot, but that is how it goes with strikers sometimes. Eventually he will score and gets his confidence back. I'm sure he will score a lot of goals for us to celebrate after that.
