United started Carrick and Schneiderlin in their midfield, its not surprising we struggled to get hold of the ball in the first 30 minutes. The fact that we did manage to pull level with them and then put them to the sword speaks volumes about this team.

Unfortunately for United it also contributed to them creating nothing against us. It was like seing us under AVB. I can kinda relate to how United fans are feeling watching their team under van Gaal.

Thinking about it, i don't think i have ever seen United create so few chances against us. I think they had only one where i thought they could score.

I just finished watching the match again and i have honestly no idea how so many can have Lamela as MotM. He gave the ball away so many times, probably the reason why he had to tackle so much. No way can you get MotM in my eyes when you have 50% pass completion and not a single chance created from open play. He has gone from being underrated to overrated this season. There must be something in between.

On further review Dembele, Toby and Eriksen gets bumped up. Dembele and Eriksen way too underrated. Eriksen was clearly the best player on the pitch.
lamela 28 passes astray
Erikson 22
Alli 16
Kane 15
Demele 14
Mason 0 passes astray and Chadli the same.

Edit I got that wrong
Here are The correct passes astray.

Last game at Old Trafford.

United only had a single shot on goal, and the lone goal came from an own-goal,

For me , the whole game pivoted on Fosu-Mensah. He was immense for them and kept them in the game with some superb interventions, last-ditch tackles and covering for the rest of their defense. It was him who mostly broke our attacks up.
As soon as Darmian came on it really opened up for us, he was 10 yards behind their last defender when Harry played Eriksen in, gave the freekick away for the reckless challenge on Harry and was nowhere near rose for the third.

All in all, without Fosu-Mensah i think we would have romped home earlier and more comfortably. Similarly, if he hadnt got injured, they were still in with a shout of getting something from the game...

Dier's done incredibly well to avoid a booking in the past however many games. Am I right in thinking that it doesn't matter if he reaches 10 now?

Correct, the slate is effectively wiped clean. To play 5-6 games under the pressure of having to avoid a booking and still to perform shows just how intelligent he is. Fantastic performance.

I was working yesterday and so didn't get to see the game live. I think the above is the crux. They are set up to work hard and spoil and I thought they did so effectively - the reason the game was so jumbled for so long. To allow them to do this they essentially sacrifice attacking. Watching Mata having to play like he did was great for us: he can be very dangerous but was reduced to chasing after players and the ball. Time and again this year we have seen us impose our game on the opposition, only for their fans to complain that they "had a bad day". Well there was a reason for that. I think Man U actually did pretty well for an hour given their (partly self-imposed) limitations.

Ultimately, we were just better. We had already stepped things up a notch a few minutes before the goal, and before that kid went off. As many have said, it was the reverse of our usual fixtures against Man U.

Nothing much more to say. I can't see us winning the league - not helped by TV requiring us to play three Mondays in a row. It would be nice to get the opportunity to put pressure on Leicester rather than the other way round, but I feel like that has barely been the case at all this season. Martial would be fucking awesome in our team, annoyingly. When it came down to it, that was the epitome of our performances this year. Lloris made the one crucial save he's called upon to make, Verts and Aldeweireld were imperious, Walker and Rose put in a serious shift, Dier and Dembele wrested control of the midfield, Lamela never stopped harrying, Eriksen popped up wherever needed, Alli made the crucial breakthrough, Kane worked like a Trojan.

They were all excellent, so it was bloody hard to choose a MOM. I went with Toby as he was almost perfect (again!) over Lamela. Only reason being the missed header. Apart from that, Lamela was epic - a 9 easily.

The rest were all fantasic. Special mention for Verts for being that good on his return to first team action.
