The problem with this is that Lucas is exactly the quick, tricky player that we were all hoping would unlock the bus parkers. If that’s not his strength, then what is?
He’s not a CF and that’s how we set up yesterday with those crosses. He doesn’t have the physicality to buy time by holding the ball up and laying off to incoming players (like Llorente did yesterday to assist Son’s goal).

He’s either more effective out wide where his pace can beat a fullback and open up space as opposition players have to make recovery runs, or he’s decent as a second striker, particularly if we’re playing on the break and he’s got lots of room to accelerate into (Utd away is a good example of this)

IMO Mora is better against the parked bus if he is wide and can provide service from out wide or, from wide, make darting runs in behind to cut the ball back to the penalty spot. He is not a target man in the box. Always think both he and Son are better as strikers when playing off of someone that can hold the ball up or knock balls down to them as Llorente did for Son's goal.

Winks MOM for me.

Don't think Eriksen was as bad as some on here. Just don't think he and Lamela mesh well together because they like to operate in the same space, especially playing against someone parking the bus. They are good on the same pitch later in games that open up where Eriksen and pick up the ball deeper and provide it to Lamela in open space in the middle of the pitch.

Sanchez excellent as well as Vert. Lloris great when he needed to be.

Son....what can you say....just hope he gets 48 hours of rest before he gets back to the pitch. Can't believe his performances considering how tired he had to be.

On the wings absolutely, but he looked like he was up front. Nowhere to run with the ball and having to challenge for headers despite being the shortest on the pitch. I just don't understand the logic of how we play with him

It's a big task to count votes but mom's this season appears to be one that's achievable..

If anyone is interested... My Saturday night is clearly this boring. But so far this season if I can count correctly..

MOMs

4 Winks
4 lamela
4 Sissoko
4 Lucas

4 Eriksen
3 Son
2 Rose
2 Foyth
2 Dele
1 Kane, Llorente, Gazza, lloris, aurier, KWP,

2 none deserved in which kane was highest in 1 and son in the other.

And all this talk about missing Kane and Alli. By the looks of it we hardly need them!!

By the looks of OUR ratings we'd miss Moura and Lamela more!!

Whilst that is obviously bollox it does show how important it is to have a good squad.

Winks for me. Passed the ball quickly, accurately, and overwhelmingly in a forward direction. Honourable mentions to Sanchez who performed the hardest task on the pitch very well, and Sonny for the goal.

Eriksen is strange at the moment, not his best of games but saying that he was very unlucky with his 2 flick chances off the line.
honestly can't really think who was MOTM but would give it to Son for the goal.

Pace isn’t useful against bus Parker’s. What you need is intricate dribbling ability. Pace is good for the counter or if you want to play on the wings.

How is Son beating Winks for MOTM?

When we do those prediction threads at the beginning of the season, the only one I got right last season was saying Winks would have a blinder, get in the England squad and start in the WC. Only injury prevented him from the WC squad. That performance, literally one or two mistakes aside, was probably our best individual performance this season from a midfielder. He’s going to be a wonderful player, if he can find a killer pass in the final third he’ll be England’s top midfielder for years to come.

Love Son. Hard not to. It was annoying though that he stuck so rigidly to the left wing in the first half when inward runs were needed. That’s probably more about tactics than Son, plus he was probably saving some breath - he must be shattered.

How slow must that Newcastle defender be that he was beaten for pace twice by Vertonghen. He put in some great crosses. We seem to cross less when Llorente is on, which makes no sense.

Eriksen should’ve been taking notes re Jan’s crossing... absolutely awful offensively first half. Better second and supplied a great diagonal cross for Llorente to miss.

Sanchez was better yesterday too. Been having some doubts about him recently I must admit but he’s showing signs he’s back to his best.

Everyone else was ok or good. Difficult to play against a team like that. Lloris had a good game thankfully.

Our spirit is amazing at the moment but we’ve just been beating the likes of Fulham, Watford and Newcastle, with last minute goals. I’m not sure our luck will last when we come up against the likes of Dortmund etc. Even Leicester will prove really difficult as they tend to play better against the big teams. Fingers crossed Kane will be back for the big matches and for any doubters if there are any, I think the last few matches show how much we miss Dele when he’s not playing.

Poch - 9/10 for making a sub with more than 20 minutes left. And for his Arsenal comments after.

Son is MoM.
Sanchez and Winks both tied up for 2nd.
Verts third.
Sissoko 4th.
And then the rest.
