He’s not a CF and that’s how we set up yesterday with those crosses. He doesn’t have the physicality to buy time by holding the ball up and laying off to incoming players (like Llorente did yesterday to assist Son’s goal).The problem with this is that Lucas is exactly the quick, tricky player that we were all hoping would unlock the bus parkers. If that’s not his strength, then what is?
He’s either more effective out wide where his pace can beat a fullback and open up space as opposition players have to make recovery runs, or he’s decent as a second striker, particularly if we’re playing on the break and he’s got lots of room to accelerate into (Utd away is a good example of this)
