Lots of very good performances today, barring maybe Lucas and Eriksen. Fully deserved to win.

Winks, Sanchez, Verts and Son were the standouts for me. Not sure why Poch played with 2 RBs and Sissoko in that weird position was a spectator for 90% of the game. He needs to play centrally and cause problems with his physicality and driving runs. I guess it’s so Trippier can push on, but against a park the bus team it’s pointless.

Still think it’s pointless starting Lucas up top, if he’s going to start it needs to be right wing. Get him on ball in space so he can run at players, bit like Lennon.
Feel like both him and Lamela are more like super subs than starters. We need to add a player to them who offers outstanding performance when starting and we are without key players as neither has stepped up recently.

Sanchez was switched on from minute one and bullied Rondon. Great 3 points are we in the title race?

I know Eriksen’s not been great recently but I actually thought he had a better game today. Winks MOM

Winks MOM all day long. Set the tempo and kept us on the front foot.
Sonny delivers the goods yet again but we don't get that chance without Llorente's lay off.
Sanchez strong as an ox. Hopefully it puts to bed all the crap about Rondon bossing him.
Sissoko put in a shift and passed accurately. He's more at home on the counter but did a good job today.
Vertonghen put in the best crosses from LB we've had in ages. Only when Llorente came on did they start going in at ankle height.
Hugo kept his concentration and dealt with everything.
Toby - just unflappable and majestic.
Lamela did a bit better with keeping possession and had some nice moments.
Lucas couldn't make much of a mark. Like Sissoko, the counter attack suits him better than a brick wall defence.
Eriksen. Always dangerous but a bit off colour. Dreadful set play delivery.
Trippier. Thankfully not tested defensively. Wish he'd put in a first time ball once in a while, especially with Llorente in there.

My vote goes to Son as the player always most likely to win the match for us. Great effort by others including Verts ... the best crosser of a ball we have had all season ... Sanchez, Winks, Lamela and Poch for what I thought was a great starting formation then introducing Llorente at the right time

Not much "analysis" of the match is needed. They parked the bus and it was defense against attack, as was to be expected. Some poor finishing and good last ditch defending from them made it a nervy game. Thankfully we got there in the end. Still need to get people attacking the front post.

Lloris 7 - One good save and another great read to come out when Perez would have been in.

Trippier 7 - Crossing wasn't the best, but he played some nice passes throughout getting us in behind. Defended well when he had to.
Alderweirled 7 - Good block in the first half. Some nice passing.
Sanchez 8 - One of his better games this season.
Vertonghen 7 - Attacking wise he was good, particularly the first half. Couple of uncertain moments defensively.

Winks 8 - Don't need to add to what's already been said.
Sissoko 6 - Did his defensive work as usual. Put in a good cross in the first half and was unlucky with the volley.
Eriksen 6 - Another one of those games where he looked like he couldn't kick the ball properly. Still played a great pass for Llorente and had two shots stopped on the line.

Lamela 6 - Played well in the first half and was unlucky with the header. Not much of a threat in the second.
Son 7 - I think he spent too much time in second half centrally outside box. Luckily his shot was poorly dealt with so it worked out in the end.
Lucas 5 - Wasn't really in the game and missed a great chance.

Llorente 6 - Somehow managed to get in behind more than anyone else. Was the only person to make a run to the front post in the whole game too. Shame his finishing was poor. We were still better overall with him than without and obviously played his part in the goal.
