Alot of people rated the bye bye Bale thread dumb. I honestly think, had we got one of Negredo, Lisandro or Gomis we would most likely have finished 4th. Without that signing. I think Arsenal will take it, and therefore Bale will ask to leave when we miss out on CL.

Here's the proposition.

I'll bet anyone, that wants to take it on, max bet of 10 pounds, that we don't get 4th place. All the proceeds goes to SC sever costs, you can all dig this thread out in a couple of months. Deal?

Post below if you think we will finish 4th,3rd,2nd or 1st.. Bet £1-£10.

:D

Chelsea bought a striker, hasn't seemed to help them win more games ?

Your argument is flawed because there are plenty of reasons we may not make 4th, and even if we bought a striker we might not have done.

But in the interests of having a punt, which I like nothing more than, I'll bet you £50 that from the time that Adebayor comes back from SA, his combined goal/assist beats Demba Ba's in the league.

Unfortunately this doesn't work, as there isn't a parallel universe were we bought one of them which can monitor to see if that would've made a difference. We could just as easily have bought Lopez and finished 5th due to shit referees, a lucky deflection, or an injury to Parker.

Also your argument doesn't make sense because you suggested we might finish top 4 if we bought Gomis, who is absolute dogshit.

I think this thread is irrelevant.

It's not necessarily that we didn't sign a striker it's because we couldn't sign a striker.

There are limits.

Even QPR currently laden with pretty good riches could not afford Bentley's wages.

Be realistic.

End of.

I just looked at the Tottenham squad list and there are 3 forwards on it - Defoe, Adebayor and Obika. Plus we have Kane back and Cameron Lancaster in reserve.

With the addition of Holtby along with Dempsey and Sigurdsson I can see Villas-Boas only going with 4-3-3 and 1 forward from here on in .

Yes I would have liked Leandro but it didn't happen for a number of reasons ( probably never will due to cost and ownership of him ) but at least this time we haven't panicked and bought someone like Saha , Frazier Campbell or Rasiak , I really think some fans just want us to buy anyone to alieve their own personal transfer fix and that irks me.

Jesus - why are people so bloody negative on this site, it really beggars belief!

It's as if the op wants us to finish out of the top four for the sake of his own ego, it's ridiculous.

You get better odds on Betfair mate! There are several horses in the race and all are odds against with us and Arsenal joint favourites.

Man City have 4 strikers and Chelsea have two. Chelsea have scored 6 more goals.

Is it possible that if we fail to finish in the top 4 it isn't because of as simple an issue as we don't have 4 strikers.

Its a sad day when a "supporter" is taking bets on his teams failure, #epiccock!

You are only as strong as your weakest link. For us that is in the striking department.

If anything is going to hold us back it's going to be in that area.

It's that simple.

I really don't know if we will finish top 4...the way things go with us, I could equally as well imagine 3rd or 6th. But logic aside, like a religious fanatic, I just believe we will finish top 4. I also believe, this with some logic behind it, that buying one of those (overpriced) strikers would not have made much difference to our eventual fate. We have 14 games left, including today. Not many players come into a different league and a different country and adjust so fast that they make that kind of immediate impact. I think there is a lot better chance of Ade coming back and making more impact than any of them would have, this season at least.

The case of Holtby is a bit different. He's half English (well, Liverpudlian, but that counts), so there is no culture shock. And I would think that the Bundesliga is stylisitically closer to the Prem than the Brazilian league. So it is worth a try.

History only happens once, so we can't know how things might have gone if we had had different players. But we can look at similar cases, and there were not so many where one transfer window deadline day signing made so much difference. I think Levy and AVB are smart enough fellows to learn from history rather than panic based on vague hopes.

Oh, yeah, I will take the 10 pound bet, why not.

I wasn't too bothered about our targets anyway. Negredo is just a glamour buy because he's Spanish and Leandro was a massive gamble. Llorente would have been a different story. Can't blame Levy in a way.

Hmmm.... I reckon holtby will send you broke. I think he's going to fire Ade into form.

Well need a bit of luck in regards to injuries but your on the wrong side of that bet

Don't really see the big problem here- if you believe spurs will finish top 4 then bet him the tenner. Rich spur has made his opinion quite clear on various threads so its nothing new.

In my view back your team!

But this is just a good fundraiser for the sites server IMHO- 10 people bet against him and either way rob will be collecting £200 in donations effectively
