What's new

Realistically how long will we keep hold of him?

His style doesn't really suit Barcelona imo. So that leaves what... Madrid and Bayern... Both of whom have his specific position on lockdown.

I'll be sad when he leaves of course, but i certainly won't be bitter about it like i was when Modric left. I'll be happy for him like i was for VdV.

Mousa sure looks to be a great find but to say he's our best player when you can count his league starts for us on one hand is a bit stupid. He's played for us against Reading, Man U, QPR, Villa and Liverpool (which yes we've won all of) as well as 3 Europa League draws. Now if you compare that with Bale who's had over 125 PL appearances for us (granted about 20 something were from "Shit Bale") it's a bizarre comparison.

And yes I know Dembele did play before he joined us but before last season he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire.

If there's any player I would say you can make an argument about being better than Bale I would say it's Sandro. He's improving rapidly and covers a position that's not always the easiest to find.

Anyway, just glad we can be having these discussions about these great players, I imagine the Liverpool forums are as divisive on who exactly is better Henderson or Downing.

Bale is world class, theres no doubt about it. Its just about how we utilise him. He needs someone clever in the middle of the park to link off and he doesn't really have it since modric and VDV left.

I can't stress enough how important I think this upcoming transfer window is for us.

It's great to see us in touching distance of 3rd place especially after a change of manager.

But its imperative that we act in this window in order to solve the shortcomings we have in our squad and i'll add, shortcomings we've had for some, some time now.

There is NO excuse.

I'm not asking for mega bucks to be spent - just spending that proceeds our recent league finishes.

If we don't sign a midfield ball retainer, wing cover and Ade cover/comp, i'll find Levy and shit on his face whilst he sleeps.

unfortunately he will be gone in the summer imo, CL qualification may make it a slightly harder decision ........ the one thing that may make him stay is real quality additions to the first 11 not squad to support a challenge beyond competing for top 4, but this wont happen as Levy wont make more than a modest net investment if any net investment at all.

Who was it who said AVB isn't getting the best out of Bale?

He has 7 goals in 16 appearances this season. His best goalscoring return at this point of any season.

Needs a poll, would be surprised to still see him at WHL for anything more than the next two seasons...depending on how he goes this year, it could even be next summer.

Levy will sell for a massive profit, we'll not replace him adequately and so the cycle will continue.

I'd like us to match his ambition and stregthen the squad and move to the new stadium etc., but it's fucking very doubtful.

Wonder how soon the 'not for sale at any price' comments will come this season, then we'll sell him.

If Bale leaves this summer, we really have to question the ambition of our club. Two years ago we were given the opportunities in several windows to build a team around him, Modric and VDV that would be capable of challenging for the title and as a result qualifying for the CL regularly. Instead to see all three of them sold and completely without adequate replacements no less must really make us question what the fuck is the point of it all.. Now I know Modric and VDV might have gone anyway, but maybe, just maybe if we show Bale he can achieve what he wants here......

we have had this for past 25 windows.. just a couple of top players away... i agree with what u say but it wont happen.. levy talks the talk like majority of those in power at spurs but no one fucking does anything about it.... if we mean business we will have players signed in first few days of january not on january 31st when knocked out of all cups... and league position gone to shit.....

ill believe it when i see it with spurs and not before.. and as for shitting on levys face... he is not even worth my shit... !!!!!

done some good things but when we are withing touching distance of challenging and making difference he is not the man to take us there.. more money and ambition needed..

kdspur....As much as I admire our Chairman's business acumen IMHO he must be a nightmare to work with for any manager and since the Jol days he's had his own agenda when it comes to transfers in.
Whether he's doing this intentionally to save money for the new stadium. goodness knows, but for now I 'feel" for AVB regarding the players he would like to bring 'cause unless they're bargain basement offers it's just not going to happen
