Reality Check

Sorry to be the Harbinger of Doom peeps, but despite the sexy, attacking free flowing football we're currently playing, and which has seen us pick up more points from the last fifteen games than even the two Manchester clubs, there's a potential major stumbling block on the imminent horizon.

Harry's Court Case is listed for January and has the potential to derail our most promising season since 1960/1961.

I don't know what more to say except I hope that 'Arry will be found not guilty. We saw the disruption to our form that the Modric saga had at the start of the season, and in my mind Redknapp is just as much an integral, irreplaceable cog in our team as is Bale, Modric or VDV.

I know we all know it but it seems to have been swept under the carpet of late with all the euphoria surrounding our scintillating form.

Surely we shouldn't be focusing on that and just focusing on what happens on the pitch? No point worrying about what may or may not come about in January. Even if he comes out of it ok, we'll still have people worrying about him taking the England job on in the summer.

Lets just enjoy what we have and cross that bridge if we come to it.

A cousin of mine is good friends with Peter Storrie's son and he said that Storrie believes Harry is going down, despite Storrie getting off himself.

Who knows. I suppose if he is guilty, at least we have continuity in Jordan, Bond, Allen, Sherwood etc. Not exactly the most comforting thought but continuity nevertheless. Someone coming in out of the blue may have an adverse affect in such a short space of time, with their new ideas etc.

Hopefully he'll be not guilty and we can just get on with it and win the league.

The potential repercussions could be massive and club changing. Redknapp retains his liberty and we could cement our place in the top three and guarantee CL football next season. Who knows maybe even win the League.

Redknapp gets bird and our form could falter and we drop out of the CL places. If that happens we lose Bale, Modric, VDV, Adebayor and maybe a few others and go back to where we were pre Jol.

Please don't call me a pessimist, I'm a realist who has supported this club for over forty years, and am as excited as anybody about this current team and the sexy football it is playing.

I'm sure we could just set up a video link in his cell, and he could carry on doing team talks. Problem solved.

It would be just like the Kray twins running the East End from prison, only completely different.

Our opponents would see it more like Bin Laden running Al Quaeda from a cave in Afghanistan while Bond and Jordan would would play the roles of his evil henchmen.

Does anybody have a brief outline of the case and process in a nutshell (or small paragraph) ?

I'm no lawyer but I know that [deliberate] tax evasion is highly frowned upon and can get a custodial sentence. But surely guilt would have to be decided by jury (and probably is in this case?) and I find it difficult to believe that your average juror would agree that it was deliberate and happily send him to prison over, IIRC, 10k or something when he earns and pays millions in tax

If it means England will not go after him then for me the court case is a necessary evil, as long as he gets a suspended sentence if found quilty and can still work with us of course.

Not really a reality check, more a potential problem that could happen but probably won't.

We could keep those guys at the club and just bring Jamie Redknapp in to replace Harry. He's exactly the same person but much younger.

The best outcome for us is that he is found guilty as it means Engkand won't come calling. The chances of him going to jail for the sums involved are slim to nil.
