So who do you believe more: Redknapp, the self serving, soundbite king, who tells his players to "facking raan araaand a bit" or Taarabt, the egotistical lazy former wonder kid with a huge talent matching the size of his opinion of himself.

Brief summary for those that don't know what it's all about:
Sunday 19 October
Redknapp accuses Taarabt of being "three stone overweight" in the post-match news conference following QPR's 3-2 injury-time defeat by Liverpool.

Tuesday 21 October (Morning)
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Taarabt defends his fitness, showing off his stomach in photographs, and saying he was "fuming" when not selected.
Tuesday 21 October (Afternoon)
Redknapp hits back at Taarabt in an interview with the Sun, saying the Moroccan is the "worst professional I have ever come across" and "I would also looked slimmer if I sicker my stomach in"

For those of you questioning the Spurs relevance, there have been quotes from Redknapp suggesting he has been protecting Taarabt since his Spurs days. Whilst Taarabt stated that Redknapp never sends them out with a plan and the training at Spurs was, at the time, unstructured and lacked any intensity.
I know from a very good source at QPR who works with the first team that Taarabt is very overweight he came back from pre-season that way they've told him to get fit and he hasn't his attitude is all wrong.

So as little of you all seem to think of arry he's 100% telling the truth here.

Harry has stoked this up deliberately knowing the likely response. Its just a diversion tactic really, I doubt he gives two solitary fucks about Taarabt.

As long as there is something else for the media to focus on - apart from the fact that he's made the same mistakes again by buying over the hill footballers and throwing them together and expecting it to work.

Ex-Spurs pair Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt shamed by QPR chairman
Posted by Steven Deeks - October 21, 2014 - All News, Liverpool, QPR, Tottenham
Ex-Tottenham pair Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been publicly shamed by the Queens Park Rangers chairman Tony Fernandes following their bitter savaging of each other.

The QPR boss delivered a withering assessment of the attacker’s condition by saying he was three stone overweight following the weekend defeat to Liverpool.

But after learning of Redknapp’s brutal comments, Taarabt, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Milan, struck back by mocking the former West Ham boss, who he claimed was trying to cause a divide between him and the fans.

“I just think that obviously at QPR the fans love me, I love QPR and I love the fans. They are my club. You can’t break the relationship with me and the fans. He wants to get the fans against me,” he said before mocking Redknapp’s preparations.

“The training sessions aren’t the same standard as Milan, or what I would expect under another manager. They are not as intense, the players aren’t as motivated,” he continued.

“When we played West Ham he told the players ‘you’re not fit, you’re not this, you’re not that’.

“I said ‘the problem is we don’t have any plan in the game, we don’t know how to press as a team. It’s not about just running around, you need to play with your brain’.”

Redknapp hit back by saying that Taarabt was the “worst professional I have ever come across” before twisting the knife by insisting the only reason the player lost weight was because he had tonsillitis.

With matters spilling out of control Fernandes has now attempted to put an end to the hostility.

“As a club, we are fully aware of stories in the press over the last few days regarding Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt,” he said in a statement.

“We regret these issues being played out in public and both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to apologise to the QPR supporters for the embarrassment this has caused and confirm that the issue has been dealt with internally.”

Taarabt.

What Harry is highlighting is a frustration EVERY SINGLE manager has had with him. He does what he wants, when he wants and does not give a shit about anyone but himself. Certainly not the team.

I hate this sort of player. He's made a living off people continually paying him fantastic money to give his undoubted potential a chance. a chance that should be going to a kid with a real desire to actually play the game.

Harry is stupid to say what he said but he was asked a direct question about the player and it must be so frustrating to have to manage that disrespectful prick.
And Harry is such an honourable, humble and fair manager with intergrity, with a very good knowledge with regards to tactics and has never known to spout his mouth off or throw anyone under the bus. There, something else for you to believe

Can't believe so many people are opting for Taraabt. Harry may be self-serving, but in this instance there is no benefit to lying about whether Taraabt is committed enough to warrant playing for QPR. They are in dire straits and he has undoubted ability.

Taraabt on the other hand has demonstrated on numerous occasions that he has ability to perform at the very highest level, but nowhere near the drive and commitment required to thrive in the Premier League.

Taraabt has admitted to 'saving himself' in training despite getting left out the first team on a regular basis. He's also admitted to being 'above' tackling in crucial matches. He's a waste of talent.

Harry is being typically undiplomatic, but my sympathies lie with him in this case, by a distance. He's watching his team lose matches whilst his most talented player twiddles his thumbs. No wonder he's exhasperated and feels the need to go public with an over-the-top attack on his player. Why is Taraabt not working hard enough? Because he can't be bothered. He's happy enough with his efforts to pick up and spunk his exorbitant wages though.

It was fairly daft of Harry to raise the issue in the first place. Blaming a player who wasn't even on the pitch for a defeat is a sign of desperation and now he's basically put himself in a position where Taarabt can't play for the club again even if he is fit.

But I suspect Taarabt is a lazy little gobshite who is second only to Nicklas Bendtner in believing his own hype so I have little sympathy for him.

Ultimately Taarabt is the real loser regardless. The boy has a crazy amount of ability but he'll never get anywhere near his potential because he clearly has a bad attitude and seems to have issues with all his managers. Neil Warnock actually claimed that he told his players that he'd fine them if they passed to Taarabt in their own half!!

I think Taarabt could still come back from it if he got his act together. But I don't think he'll ever get his act together. He has relied on natural ability all his life to get him where he is. You reach a certain age where you start to lose agility and flexibility, where it becomes harder to recover from injuries, where weight gain happens far easier etc. and then to maintain your level you need to put in the effort. I am not sure Taarabt has put in the required effort at any stage of his career. Which is a pity because his natural ability is unreal.

Just reading those Taarabt quotes it looks like the Harry "he's 3 stone overweight" quote could be retaliatory after Taarabt called him out in front of the dressing room with that "one week we're unfit, the next week we're perfect? - so you made us all fit in one week?" dig.

Funny, but irresponsible.

I think it happened the other way around.
The lost to West Ham at which point 'Arry branded the players unfit and singled out Taarabt.
Then they out-played Liverpool and the comment from 'Arry was that they were superb.

That led to Taarabt comment about suddenly all being fit in a week.

Harry was wrong to have reacted the way he did, but that's just how he deals with things sometimes. I'm not in any way saying that this is the correct approach or that he's an angel.

What I will say is that he is widely recognised as a very good man-manager, and the number of superb footballers who have publicly stated how much they loved being managed by Redknapp far outweighs a very small number who haven't liked working with him.

I would be willing to bet that this statement was a deliberate move to hang Taarabt out to dry and show the squad that he won't accept an attitude like this.

Is that a bad move?

Well, it's caused a public spat, which is unnecessary but it also depends how much you rate Taarabt as any form of answer to their problems.

I know for one that I wouldn't have a player like him anywhere near a team fighting relegation so, yeah, I probably would sacrifice a total waster to get my message across if that's what I thought was necessary.

I am neither anti-Harry or pro-Harry. I don't think he is an amazing manager and, as you say, tactically there are far better in the game. It was also a bitter end to his reign with us, with his self-serving attitude and focus on the England job.

Not wanting to take this thread in another direction :sneaky:, but the years we had under him were extremely exciting. We played some of the best football I've ever seen and it really irks me that the job he did for us is dismissed so frequently by a growing number of our fans on here.

The argument that 'another manager would have done better with the squad he had' is the stick used to beat him with. That is complete and utter conjecture and makes light of the excellent job he did.

Taarabt is the type of player that really pisses me off.

He has so much talent and had so much potential he could have become a top class player. Instead he pisses it all away because of his shitty attitude and lazyness

My problem with Harry is that he is Gobby and self serving. I felt that way before he came to us (No I didnt want him here) and my feelings haven't changed. I will admit that he pleasantly surprised me with the way we played, getting us into Europe etc, but IMO he took his eyes of the ball when if he had not put his personal ambitions first, we would have done a lot better.

While I agree that Taarabt is an ungrateful wasted talent where if the effort was applied could walk into any team, (no exaggeration here), I believed Harry used this situation to create a smoke screen to deflect any criticism of the currect QPR performances.
