Its not released, its just those who haven't yet been offered a new contract. Suffice to say, those on that list that we want to keep, we will-they won't just become part of a big free-for-all

Alnwick, Ranieri, Jansson released, Cudicini out of contract and Friedel getting closer to retirement.

We'll have no keepers left at this rate.

All it means is that the players in the list are the players whose contracts have ended but have yet to renew. I hope that if King is to retire, he stays with us in another capacity (as he hints on the OS) because seeing him play even 1 minute for another club would be heartbreaking.

I thought Oyenuga was highly rated? That one surprises me. But maybe he's not

If Pogrebnyak is available on a free (did Fulham really only buy out the last few months of his contract?) then we should get him. He adapted to the league without any problem, showed that he is strong and good enough on the ball. He'd be a perfect option as our an alternative target man and I'd trust him to play an extended run of games if whoever the first choice is had a long injury.

So Tottenham have released:

Alnwick, Jansson, King, Lassen, Nelsen, Oyenuga, Ranieri, Saha.

Alnwick - GK (25) has been going for a couple of seasons - never a good acquisition and never recovered his earlier form at Sunderland

Jannssen - GK (21) looked good about 3 years ago but not since then, only a few games on loan until current one at Shamrock Rovers which runs until 30 June I believe. Reports on loan have not been that favourable (eg not dominant in box, problem with crosses etc - but is good at saving penalties). However quite a few good young goaleepers coming through.

Ranieri GK (20) Never done anything since he was acaquired from Perugia about 4 years ago, except loan to Ipswich under 18's when they were short of a goalkeeper - never held down a place in Spurs u 18's. As before plenty of good goalkeepers coming through.

Waller - Lassen - right wing back (19) has been out injured for a lot of the last 18 months, but before that looked quite good. However guess he missed too much playing time, there are others coming up through the academy seen as good, and maybe the medics think he is likely to have recurring injuries.

Oyenuga (striker) (19) Shame really. When he burst through into the Spurs u 18 side as a 14/15 year old most Spurs youth watchers remarked on how much better he was than Obika (who he succeeded in u 18's) and he did well in the academy being top scorer for a couple of seasons but since he and Kane destroyed ManU u 18#s 3-1 in a preseason match about 2 years ago in front of old 'red nose' he sems to have plateaued or even gone backwards. Latest loan at St Johnstone (Scot Prem0 would not have helped - only got a couple of appearances.

Nelsen and Saha - we think we know the reasons ! A bright shiny CB and at least one CF coming in !! :D Yippee, I thought we might need to keep Saha if enough new strikers werre uncertain

Young goalkeepers coming through :

David Button (23), Jordan Archer (19), Jonathan Miles (19) Lawrence Vigeroux (18), Billy Granger (17), Luke McGee (16), Liam Priestly 16) - last 2 will join Academy Year 1 next season

Not short of good candidates at GK

Do you think Button is ready to step up to the first team squad?

I havent seen anything about those players being 'released' as such, just that they are on the list of players whos contracts are expiring and we havent indicated whether we are renewing them or not, still could end up retaining some of these.
