UEFA have released the following statement regarding our Europa Conference League fixture against Stade Rennais.

Unfortunately, despite all efforts, a solution that could work for both clubs could not be found. As a consequence, the match can no longer be played and the matter will, therefore, be referred to the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for a decision to be taken

Official Site 11 Dec 21

The result of the match will now be decided by the Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary body.

Bloody ridiculous

Firstly that a solution could not be found (I blame Rennes) and secondly that we didn't have this group wrapped up ages ago

I wanted us to win the comp but given given how everything has played out injuries/fixture pile ups/covid this seems like the best result from a load of bad options (just IMO).

As its technically our 'fault' that the game had to be postponed, I guess you are right.

It is, but both teams then had to try and rearrange the game, Rennes have refused to do this even with dates they could play.

Thee is an argument for both sides.

No way, this should have been a chance for us to actually win some sort of trophy, after so many years. Maybe not the most prestigious, but it would still have been a major boost to the clubs moral going forward.

This is a good result, (if we are out the comp). We are going to have fitness issues and fixture conguestion

nobody really cares about the fans anymore.

An adjudicated fair result would be to call a draw. Not that it would then help our progression. Might be something we have to suck up as unfortunate.

Uefa could call a win for us on coeff if Rennes are being difficult but they'd have vitesse up in arms, rightly so to some respect.

In isn't really in Rennes interest to play and muck up their schedule, its a dead rubber for them. Maybe a few euros for the group stage points but nothing more.

This is just going to be one of several scheduling issues we have with at least 2 league games to add in now.

So, if they award the game to Rennes, that means we are out of the competition?

Yes, but let's face it, we are the architects of our own problems here. We lost to NS Mura which was virtually impossible but we found a way, by producing the team performance from hell.

Anyway, if it means we lose out on the European Dustbin League and qualify at the end of the season for a Champions League spot, or even a Europa League spot, then it'll be worth getting eliminated.

I blame Nuno for this mess. If he hadn't been so arrogant in his team selection for this competition, we would have been out of sight by now.
Nuno treated this third rate tournament with the contempt it deserves

Hate to say it, but I think it’s a good thing we’re out of it. Now we can properly concentrate on trying to finish in the top four. That Mickey Mouse Conference would have caused us nightmares in an already congested fixture list.

There’s an easy solution to this.
Each club selects their best FIFA 22 player and they go head to head in a match.

That's far too harsh. Conte did exactly the same making 9 changes in Mura and got the same result. It's 100% on the players for not being good enough to play at this level. They weren't good enough in the Europa and now the Conference League. We had to rotate the squad otherwise the first team will be run into the ground and injuries will build. The squad beyond the first 11 and a few others need to be sold.

I'm just glad Conte saw this against Mura and Paratici saw it in the other games too. If we go out this way then at least the competition served a purpose. It highlighted the serious need to offload a handful of squad players who have held us back the past 2-3 years. I'm happy for us to be out of this competition because we simply don't have the squad for it. The first team need to be fully focused on trying to get 4th in the League and go for the Carabao Cup. If some how they keep us in the competition I would still leave the first team at home but play mostly youngsters.
