Could be the exciting LB tbh. I think Levy knows we need a quality LB.

Quality LB and was very impressive in the world cup. Type of player our scouts should have been all over a year ago.

Signing players after a world cup is never a good idea. They become over priced and the big guns tend to have first dibs.

spurs are not in a position to be spending 25m-30m on a full back, get real guys.

Yes we are. He's the perfect buy for that position. Young, talented, and would sort the LB position for 10 years. We can spend 25m on the right LB and 25m on the right LM, or spend 12m on each position and have to buy again next summer.

You'd spend 25m on a top striker but not on a top LB? Why not? The positions are of equal importance.

We do not have enough of a pull for a top level player, especially without paying ridiculous weekly wages. And Rodriguez is a top player.

Actually woke up today and thought he was a Spurs player...

Haha I had a dream like that recently. Can't remember what it was but something really good happened and when I woke up I believed in the back of my mind that it had actually happened for a few hours. Then eventually realized that it didn't actually happen. :(

If - and I repeat IF - Wolfsburg wants £15 million for him and Swansea wants £12 million for Davies, well then it's a no brainer even if Rodriquez would demand a hefty salary. Wolfsburg are in no need to sell though and trying to build a top team/squad.

No they're not. I agree. But in pochettino's system, the fullbacks are still of massive importance. They offer the width and provide the service from out wide. Get good fullbacks and the striker scores more due to better and more frequent service.

If we spent 25m on rodriguez and he replicates his wolfsburg form for the next 5 years then that's money very well spent imo.

Agreed 100%. If the price between Davis and Rodriguez is that small we should be all over this. Forget Davies. But in reality we're never going to spent £20 M+ on a defender. Never.

So if the quoted £15 M figure is correct, expect is to go in with the goal of getting him. If we inquire and it's more like 19M...back to Davies we go.

Besides, there aren't just three left backs in the world. There's many, many left backs. We don't need someone with a recognizable name or a good World Cup performance. We need someone who will mesh with the squad and buy into our managers philosophy, that doesn't require us to forgo strengthening in other positions to purchase.

A £20 M player and one squad player were done for this window. Don't expect more than £20-£30 M spend this summer. And we'll end the window in the black because of all the outgoing.

Of course we are. Especially given the current market. If a player is willing to come to us, who is clearly talented, would be within our wage structure, and most importantly, has the potential for a big sell-on value, then we could definitely be spending £25m on a full-back. Levy is no mug, and he wont just throw money around for the sake of it, but I'm sure everyone from scout to manager to dinner lady could tell him that RR would be worth the investment.

Livermore - £8 million
Defoe - £6 million
Sigurdsson - £9 million

That's £23 million, chuck in a couple more and you can get Rodriguez for £27 million.

But then we won't be able to afford O'Shea. Think things through, man!

Do you think he'd cost that much though? From what I've seen he's good, but not THAT good. I honestly believe he'll end up moving for about 15M, but big wages. Just curious really, I think the ship sailed on any potential deal for this player quite awhile ago for us.

I see it as the opposite to be honest mate. Wolfsburg are a rich club, so they're in no need to sell, but they're also not stupid. They know that upwards of £20m is a good deal for a player who they bought for £6.6m. They're some way off being a title challenger in the Bundesliga, and if RR made it clear that he was keen on a move to an interested club, then I think they'd be willing to sell for a good fee.

But, given he's only 21, and that Wolfsburg have a sensible wage structure, he wont command big wages, yet. I'd say maximum 50k would seem about right for him, unless someone like Chelsea comes in and just ups it stupidly. Anyway, it doesn't seem like we'll get him, but I don't necessarily think it's impossible. That said, I do believe he's in the top 5 left backs in the world. Don't think anyone could name 5 better than him honestly

Best available left back out there. Plus side? Everyone who needs a left back has bought one, or is close to.

Bad thing is Wolfsburg don't need to sell. Only big clubs who actively need a LB are Atletico, once Luis leaves, Liverpool and us. There are 3 good left backs about, who're attainable. Davies, RR and Moreno. I think the latter will move to Atletico.

Atletico have already bought Siqueira.
