Sounds like low-level Sky Sports News journo who is never seen but occasionally heard reporting on a tedious occurrence in the epic clash of Crawley Town and Preston North End.

I was thinking something similar when I saw thread title!

But we better have our backs covered. When will the Ruskie come and poach them like he did Arnesen.

When Chelsea put a value on development rather than buying all the shiny things (i.e. never).

Interesting read and shows that at a lot of technical analysis goes in to th game. Also goes to show that statistics are a key part of decision making in the game - pbut not just the superficial stuff that normally hits the tv/article graphics. Would be hugely interesting to get a behind the scenes look at these operations.

Good that Baldini is being supporting in building a proper scouting structure underneath him.

Broomfield, Mitchell and MacKenzie all seem highly regarded

Is it not Mitchell who is putting in the work on the scouting side whereas Baldini is more of a negotiator nowadays.

I know for sure that this guy is interested in the analytical side of the game & that's a good thing. Given that in the past it has often been said that we pick players off agent lists and rely on outside input for our recruitment planning, this marries well with all the investment in the background of the club. Putting smart guys in positions to evaluate our squad and transfer targets is something that we were well overdue to do.

We haven't done to bad in the transfer market overall, however a more technical approach with our assembled scouting network would limit transfer mistakes.

Baldini as DoF is head of football operations. Scouting comes underneath his remit.

Mitchell certainly isn't a sheepskin coat at the back of the stands type scout. He's a data analysis 'geek'. A FM generation type role.
