The observation that Robbo looked as though he'd lost weight had fcuk all to do with his performance, but more with the new management ethos of our players being overweight.

Is that the same Ethos from the NotW, which yesterday printed an apology stating the comments should not have been attributed to Tottenham.

i.e. they made it up!!

Yeah it was in the rumour section underneath a completely made up rumour about Baptista.....which they will probably have to apologise about next week.

being England keeper is a lot of pressure, look at how David James' form has inproved domestically since losing his place in the ENgland set up.

I would happily see Robbo never play for England again if it meant he was consistantly a top performer for us

Couldn't agree more - he's better off distanced from that shower. I wouldn't want him having to defend behind J*d*s and co.

Spot on

When the spotlight is taken off James he looks like a different keeper. A while back this season the media put him back in the spot light and again he started making mistakes for Pompey again, now he's settled back down again and is playing very well.

Bit selfish but Scott Carson for England would be a great help for Tottenham.

I am sorry, but all this "he looks like he's lost weight" because he's had a good game is a myth.

Below are two pictures of him, one is from the Sunderland game on the 1st day, the other from yesterdays game.

He pretty much looks the same size in both.

He's either lost weight or is wearing larger kit to make it look like he's lost weight.

They're starting to lift their heads a bit instead of playing like a team in trouble. The boys are all walking tall again.

Looks pretty much the same to me. Maybe, as someone said early on in this thread, the real weight loss has been the millstone of being 'England's No. 1' and the press jumping on his every error for club and country as a result. Not to mention Gerrard telling the media that he has to ask himself questions after the Russia game, conveniently diverting attention from his missed sitter. And how good were you against Croatia, Stevie, you craven Scouse ****?

Seems to me a lot of people are only too happy to jump on this bandwagon, wheel out the hilarious pie jokes, and forget that apart from the cock-ups he should rightly get stick for Robbo has made a fair few very good saves this season and baled out a truly dreadful defence.

how have more people not been up at arms over steven "best player in the world ever" gerrard´s comments. the stupid plank missed a very good chance and then blames his teammate. this after consistently letting his country down against decent opposition (post 2001).

if i were robbo i would have nutted the coward.

Excellent point, Gerrard had an ideal opportunity to make it 2-0 in Russia and seal the game and qualification.

his miss was worse in comparison to RObinsons 'error'

Robbo has been improving gradually over the last month. One thing that should be stressed is that even at his very, VERY, worst he was not as bad as comedy Carson the other day. Nor has he made anywhere near the number of complete gaffs that calamity has.

He has been a good keeper going through a rough patch playing behind shit defences.

All of this nonsense about selling him is just typical spurs.

This is what i say, (well not exactly this but similar), the keeper is only as good as the 4/5 in front of him, the likes of Schmeichel, Seaman and Cech got/get plaudits and top 5 status but only because they had/have very good defences!

He's deffo lost weight, you can tell a mile off, and it will help him play better as he'll be far more agile, as he showed against the spammers...4 weeks ago he may not have got down to some of those shots, it also gives you a mental awareness when you're thinner (ie, clearer head) as your body will produce more energy..

Sorry, but the notion he's lost a significant amount of weight is as much an illusion as Mido turning into Luciano Pavarotti after the ACN. We had before and after photos that proved otherwise then, and Beni's links prove the same point now. Robbo was making acrobatic saves earlier this season, not least his Billy the Fish mid-air turn to stop Scholes' shot at OT. People are just seeing what they want to see, the way they see only his mistakes and ignore what he does well, and load the blame on Robbo for the Fred Karno 'defending' going on in front of him.

It's significant that Ramos has given him very public support. Or is Juande as deluded as Jol was supposed to be?

So it seems like the weight wasn't the issue.

Still the same bumbling gaffe prone keeper. Can't catch, can't handle, no presence, his repertoire is growing.

Weights Ok

Great bloke, good banter with the crowd

Fantastic kicking with both feet

Great close range shot stopper

BUT

Cannot read a game, decision making is poor

Our defence are never sure what he's gonna do

Slow off his line, if he does come off it

Does not command his box

Not good on crosses

Poor with long range shots

Leaden footed

Bye Bye Robbo:adios::adios:
