Duncan Castles has reported we're in negotiations with Porto for him.

Tottenham negotiate transfer of Portugal central defender Rolando from FC Porto. #THFC #FCP
Tottenham Hotspur have begun negotiations with FC Porto over the transfer of Portugal international defender Rolando. The 27-year-old central defender has been identified by Andre Villas-Boas as one of four new players to be acquired with some of the revenue from Gareth Bale's proposed €100million move to Real Madrid.

Rolando was sidelined by Porto for the first half of last season and loaned to Napoli for the second half following a dispute over the Portuguese club's desire to move him to Queens Park Rangers. Until that point a regular for his national team, the Cape Verde-born defender had the most successful year of his career when winning a treble of Primeira Liga, Taca de Portugal and Europa League under Villas-Boas in 2011

Thoughts? I've never seen him play.

Never heard of him, doesn't sound like porto are particularly fussed about him though.

I dont think i've ever seen him play either. At least not knowingly.

Just giving his player profile on transfermarkt a quick glance it seems as though his "transfer value" had a huge increase and actually had it's peak during AVB's reign as Porto manager. It's gone down steadily since then.

He's tall but I don't remember him being good with the ball or particularly mobile.

He was pretty good in the Euros. But then the whole Portugal side were a tough nut.

Would sooner have bought Lugano in on a free but WBA have beat us to that one.....

Looks a step down from Chiriches if I am honest. I'm guessing that transfer is dead now.

That's a strange signing because he's not what he used to be, he struggled in Ligue 1.

Dawson struggles enough with the high line, Lugano would be a nightmare with his lack of mobility. WBA defend deep so he suits them better.

The last thing we need is buying players cause Pleat can't spell. Next thing you know we'll be buying Moshi.

Yeh think this is a non starter. An average 27 year old 'cover' centre back or a 21 year old potential star? This would be the kind of signing we might make right at the end of the window if we still only had 3 CB's.

In other words we fucked up selling caulker and not getting his replacement sorted first and now we're scrambling round for any half arsed replacement

No idea on him. Castles doesn't have a clue though so I wouldn't take that much notice of whatever he writes.

I wish we would have a go at Kyriakos Papadopoulos instead. he's class. and he's linked with liverpool so it'd be hilarious to "steal" yet another signing from them.
