I can definitely see why he'd go for the Everton job. Assuming he wants to stay in England, he really doesn't have any other serious options.

Southampton have done extremely well the past few seasons but they are very much in the habit of selling their top players every single year. Everton don't splash out too much but they try very hard to hold on to their best players. They have a bigger stadium, are historically a bigger club, and have more top class players than Southampton at the moment and almost certainly will do going into the new season.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd see any saints supporter say positives about us or Poch

BUT

from saints web

For me he's poured a giant bucket of sour on the end of season positivity.
What he has managed to do though is improve my thoughts about Poch. For some reason I have less animosity now, in fact....no emotion at all it seems. Thanks for that Ron. You're top of the bile pile now

I agree, at least Pochettino didn't lead us on into signing a new contract and he left for a genuine, hate to say it, but am established top 6 club, not Everton

I agre with you but maybe they will make another good appointment and keep the ball rolling

To be honest the only manager who seems to be able to take a club selling their best players year after year would be Frank De Boer, cause he's so used to it at Ajax. Would fit right in at Southampton

To be fair, moving to Everton isn't a short-term gain. It's a longer term ambition move. I'd do the same.

All I can think of is that he sees this as a challenge. He took over from good managers who had done good things at Southampton. They were a team on the up since Adkins got them promoted. Everton were stagnant for years through Moyes' last few years and Martinez did fuck all to improve that, if anything they've slipped backwards.

There is almost certainly a financial gain for Koeman but I'm guessing a large part of it is him wanting to prove that he can build something great.

Yeah, but he could have stayed true to his word and waited one more year for his contract to run down. I'm sure in a year there would have been an equal or better project out there than Everton.

If that's true about Klinsmann, that's our next manager sorted in 2 years if Poch goes to Madrid/Barca. Thanks yet again Southampton... :)

Lets hope not.

I think they'd be much better off with someone like Garcia or de Boer.
