Well yeah, the club said he was up for sale so any bid which was deemed appropriate would have been accepted.

Agreed, but some are suggesting Spurs rejected the bid because they didn't want Rose to go in the first place.

I just cannot understand why we were prepared to let him go in the first place and suspect there may be more going on. I don't know that but imo its can't be football reasons unless we are stupid.
Rose is one of the best Lbs around imo and we would not find it easy to replace him, by the look of it we weren't even trying, so wtf?
I dont get it.
He scares the crap out of defenders, draws more fouls in dangerous positions than anyone and we know that without decent attacking full backs Pochs teams turn into AVB stodge crab football.
Makes no sense letting him go, especially as Trippier has also gone.
Anyway whatever is going on I for one am absolutely delighted he is still with us.

I think it's fairly obvious the club are of the opinion he's beyond his peak and on the way down. I too would still consider him our first choice left back (by some distance), but the evidence would suggest that isn't an unreasonable viewpoint - a lot of injury disruption in the last couple of years, rarely seems to be able to go 90 minutes, and whilst the desire is still there and he still contributes he's not fired on all cylinders like we've seen him capable of in the past.

There's also his age (30 next year) and where he it at in the contract cycle. If they deem he's on the way down, and that's only going to continue, then they will want to look at getting some value out of him if possible. That is part of how the club operates like it or not, in the last 10-15 years we've always had money available and been in a very healthy position as a club partly because we (by and large) operate as smartly from players sales as we do acquisitions.

We just signed a left-wing-back yesterday.

Do you think we'll be looking to have Sess as a left wing back?
I'm not saying we wont but I got the impression he'll be more attacking.
Anyway he's way short of Rose level at present imo.
