Love JJ's punditry, but he's let himself down with "they'll" instead of "there'll".
He wouldn't survive one second on SC with that usage of the English language.

I'd be very dubious about any medical on Am injured player. Everton must be kicking themselves that they didn't fold on the price earlier, as there's no way Levy will pay even close to £30m now.

My only concern is how does Levy react now he's negotiating for an injured player.
Or are we expecting further departures?
This is an odd transfer.
Realistically, he'll be in that advanced 3 of 4231, so we'll have Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Sissoko?, Nkoudou and Barkley, 7 players for 3 starting spots.
I get that he gives us something slightly different, but we're now talking about adding another option too, a pacy powerful runner in the Balde/Martial mould.
There was a suggestion Barkley would be a backup option at CM also? But it appears we're close to signing Diop as a young project for CM.
Am I missing something here, are we going to be overloaded? Or are we expecting further departures?
barkley replaces sissoko, wide forward replaces gkn or janssen? This is an odd transfer.

I don't think Poch feels GNK and Sissoko are of the required standard and Lamela is likely out for a couple of months yet. If anything, given Barkley's new injury and the fact he'll need time after recovery gaining match fitness, we're potentially light in this area for a couple of months at least. This is an odd transfer.

A grade three hamstring tear is more likely to be 2-3 months, especially for a player who is coming back from a hernia operation and has missed all of pre-season. Poch won't be able to use him properly until the end of the year, by which time his value (if still at Everton) would be considerably less than what they are demanding now. Levy would be mad to pay £30m for an injured player with only 10 months of his contract to run. We could get him for £15m in Jan (when he'd be fully fit) or for free in June. That money could be used to give all of our star players an extra £30k per week. I'd much rather Levy waited and did that than buy a player Poch can't use now.

Medical's assess underlying or long term injuries. We've signed "injured" players before as have most clubs.
And what if another club realises that it's a long term buy, not a short term fix and buys him while we piss about worrying about a hamstring injury?
He is suppose to be Poch's number 1 transfer target and we're going to pass because he has torn a hamstring? We are not talking about a player in the latter part of his career with a long history of hamstring injuries that have robbed him of his pace, we are just talking about a simple injury that's happened at the wrong time.
Or should we buy a worse player who will be better than Sissoko until October, but worse than Barkley for the next 4/5 years after that?
