Correct. He's going to go to a Champions League club, and a club where he can develop and get regular England call ups. United or Spurs imo.

Obviously they aren't a champions league club but I've always thought he'd do well at Arsenal for some reason. If Ozil goes I reckon they'll be interested.

This is quite interesting as a measurement of how much we need him; if he goes to West Ham, I wouldn't be that fussed. For me, that's quite telling. What do others think?

I wouldn't hate having him but he's the type of player who's transfer "approval" would be contingent on other things.

- How much did he cost?
- Is he the marquee signing of the window?
- Did any highly regarded players (like Douglas Costa, Isco) move for the same price or cheaper than Barkley cost?

Not exact but if someone like Costs goes elsewhere for fairly similar wages to what Spurs could offer you surely can compare.

There's a guy on Grand Old Team Everton forum who seems convinced he's off to West Ham.

About half way down the page.

They are treating him as a WUM, and he posted that 8 days ago. He even said he was in London all week, then another poster said he saw him training at Everton's training ground, and he replied that went to London and back to Liverpool several times that week. Doable but highly unlikely imo

To be reasonable, I believe Barkley might hold just about what's needed to surpass Sissoko.
If I were to make a prediction though, it's early days in the transfer window, and if it came down to it, we'd be out-priced by someone.
This is exactly why I don't believe he has or is about to sign for West Ham, doing that is something a player like him might come to eventually but not before the window is even open and whilst clubs are still away on tour, there's too many options still open to him, he ain't going to Stratford.

WH brother-in-law: I'm not sure what the point in signing Barkley is. I can't see where he fits into the West Ham team.

Kind of sums up Barkley. A lot of talent but still an unknown. Still think his future is simplifying things along Dembele lines.

Your brother in law has a good point. I mean, besides immediately slotting into the #10 role in their first XI, where does he fit?;)

Barkley is better than any player West Ham currently have and by quite some distance.
Most of them, yes. Probably a "pick'em" with Lanzini. Both players would be better in better teams as I don't believe either is best suited to be 'the man' in a squad.

He's not going to west ham. If we sign him i will stick by what ive said that he would be a great addition to our squad. Been badly managed, lots of tallent. I think he could flourish at Spurs. Another string to our bow, different player to the players we have. All over it
