I think we can afford it though. We will be bringing in close to 275m next year.

We could put a player on £150k a week but City could still double their wages if they wished. If we raise the wages and don't make Champions League next season due to Wembley for example, we may end up having to sell some of them anyway.

Surely the best thing to do is keep costs as low as possible until we move into our new stadium?

We only have 1 year to wait. Its not like Levy wont already know how much money this new stadium will generate.

Im sure Rose would be happy with 75k-80k.

Why are you assuming he isn't already? And IF he isn't then if he warrants it and the club feels he deserves it I am sure they will increase it for him. And if they do they will also probably decide to bump up Walker if it makes any difference but I feel in Walkers case nothing we offer him will. but as I said, we'll just have to wait and see.

Imagine if we kept Bale, Modric, Berbatov, Carrick etc... The only limiting factor is money.

Your living in a complete fantasy land if you think we could have kept them by throwing money at them. They all left to play for the 2 biggest clubs on the planet, all won numerous domestic and Europeon honours. We have a hell of a long way to go to compete with the top clubs stature wise.

I am not having it that because of the new stadium we can`t pay better wages than West Ham and Crystal Palace

We are paying far better wages than clubs like West Ham and Crystal Palace - Everton too for that matter.
Our wage bill is the sixth highest, we're also the club with sixth highest turnover. It's our financial standing in the league, and any sporting result above sixth is us doing very well with what we got.
Players that sign new contract these days, are likely to be around £100k a week - we're not limited to 30-40 like some suggest.
Even Sissoko apparently on 90+
What's beyond our limit is competing with the wages of United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal as they either earn shit tons of money or got a sugar daddy.

I think the problem is Walker and anyone else looking at leaving are actually not interested on what Son or whoever are on, but rather what they can make by leaving. In other words they are already halfway out the door cos they probably know what they can get elsewhere is way out of the ballpark of what we would pay and much higher than even our best players (Son included) is currently being paid..So I dont think Levy is to blame if Walker wants 140+ a week when maybe only Kane and Lloris are getting barely that with all their included bonuses.

You cant compete with what City are willing to pay.. Not for a few years....And until then we will lose players whom we feel we can cope without or get adequate replacements for. This is just a fact of how it is. Levy isn't to blame at this point. Its something that we just cant justify at this point in time (paying over 100k or 150k a week for Walker to stay)

Lets just see how it all pans out.

My point is if you paying £90k or £100k a week and tell them they have to stay another year or two they are more likely to just get on with it..

If players who have been instrumental in getting us to 2nd place with highest everything stats wise are paid considerably less than other first team squad players and West Ham Leicester and Palace players then that's wrong in my view.

I say tell them they ain't going anywhere next season but give the players on lower wages an increase. This squad has probably earned the club an extra £70 million for last season and next that they would not have budgeted for a few seasons back... To give six players an average increase of 50K a week would cost about £15 million a year. I think we can afford it..

Yes and No. If Rose is on 30k a week, and Walker 50k, then no wonder they are annoyed. Look at how much sissoko is getting?

Plus if City or United are prepared to offer 150k a week who could blame em?

Levy needs to renegotiate and stop this from dragging and ruining squad harmony

If Rose is on 30k a week, i will show everyone in SC how to plat snot.

Levy learned after the Berbatov transfer that it was the last one he would do to United, and if Citeh want Walker they are going to have to go North of 50 million for England's and one of Europe's best right backs. Hell they paid 55 million for that pillock Stones.

Poch and Levy have both quoted that they will only sell players if it is in the the best interests of the Club. Most of the current squad have signed new shiny, sexy contracts, and were greedy enough to take them. Just because they hit form and finish second (again without wining any silverware), yet are given a pay rise, they apparently now all want out?

Their agents agreed the deals, and contract lengths so now it's time for the players to repay that to the club and fans.

Maybe wait until we... you know... actually lose a player, before resorting to this kind of thread?

Agreed. And maybe wait till you've actually seen a copy of their wage slips. Papers routinely make up salary figures. Very much doubt there's this much between the likes of Son and our full backs who are both first-choice England internationals, after all. Even if it was the case, it's almost certain that Spurs would be willing to double their money if they really are on such 'low' wages.

nudge nudge wink wink but I think our players are on a bit more than what is generally reported in the press ;)

Is that any different to the amateur managers giving Poch advise on tactics &/or substitutions ?
Yes, because at least with that they have half a clue because you can see what's going on and then talk about it.

With financials, it's people with no information at all talking about something that is beyond their comprehension.

Granted, but in some cases Poch's tactics and substitutions are beyond their comprehension too ! ;)

LOL what a pointless thread, another rant based on hypotheticals and zero facts. No one on here knows how much the players are actually getting, and on top of that, those that keep bringing this up never seem to take into account bonuses and signing on fee's which are often paid to offset lower numbers in basic salary.

We pay more than 95% of clubs in world football. Players across Europe would give their right arm to play for us at the moment.

The media seem to have an agenda at the moment saying Spurs don't pay their players enough. It's bollocks. The other teams pay their players too much.

If this team breaks up because of not paying players like Walker and Rose parity with players like Son who is on £85k a week then Levy needs to be held to account. I am not having it that because of the new stadium we can`t pay better wages than West Ham and Crystal Palace. We have waited years to be in a position to challenge and to see it fade away because of lack of ambition and trying to be a smart business negotiator would be heart breaking.

Rose apparently on 30K a week and Walker on 50K a week no wonder there is resentment...

Rose doesn't appear resentful, nor Walker.

I'm off to cross reference those people annoyed that Rose isn't being paid enough to those people who didn't think Rose deserved a new contract when he signed it. Basically, you're just a big bunch of angry people with too much internet privilege.

That's a big IF.
Personally I don't believe it. We have never had a player leave purely for monetary reasons.
