We can't compete for elite players, never have, probably never will.

After last summer I'm not sure we can even compete for second tier players (Mane, for example).

But we are instead capable of creating and developing players who can go on to become at least 2nd tier.
I'd rather we developed our own, who come into the club through the academy, learning the philosophy of the club and who want to be here, than spend big money on someone who is just looking for the biggest wage packet they can get, only to bugger off 2 years later.

We need to be spending our money on improving the contracts (and the chances of hanging onto) our best players, not paying the likes of Sanchez 3x what our top earners would be on.

Well my point was that we will never compete with elite clubs for elite players, which you’ve just conceded yourself?

To go back to your earlier point, I don’t believe that the new stadium will suddenly put us ‘in a position to compete’ for high class, high demand players like Sanchez. We will still get blown out of the water when it comes to wages and probably transfer fees too.

Last year we took around £30mill in gate receipts. If we were to double that in the new stadium and put that surplus exclusively into wages it would bring us more into line with Liverpool, but still around £70mill behind the likes of Chelsea, City and Utd.

What the new stadium will do is consolidate our status as a top 6 club for many years to come, which is a considerable achievement in itself considering where we were a few years ago, but don't kid yourself that we'll suddenly be competing for the best of the best. The numbers just don’t add up.

Not quite that's simple, as well as gate takings, there will be much more corporate and commercial revenue. Add to that there will be naming rights and the NFL franchise. Basically every department where we fall behind the bigger teams.

No we won't be competing for the elite players, mostly probably because of Pochs vision but also we need to start winning things. So never say never but it won't be for the foreseeable.

Does this mean someone is offering 1/3 odds that he isn't coming to spurs?

He is exactly the player we need to take us up a level. Shame he ever ended up at Arsenal.

So people are actually saying if he became available in a hypothetical world they wouldn't want him?

lol fucking hell...I couldn't think of a more perfect player who would embody Poch's philosophy.

I think the new stadium is going to provide a bit more revenue than just a few extra seats...!!

I wouldn't want him. There's nowhere in my house to put him. Besides, I'm not sure I could trust my wife around him. She's a bit of a slut.
