I think AVB suggested Courtois as well, he's doing very well at Atletico but they've since given Cech a new contract, makes you wonder why they signed him in the first place. The same goes for De Bruyne and Marin.

To stop someone else from signing him.

Can't remember.

If you're German and you haven't heard about it then I'm guessing it's bollocks.

Live in London tbf, so some stuff goes over my head - more websites have picked up on it now though

This transfer is a sad one, I would have loved to have him:

Leverkusen have reportedly received an offer for the Germany international, but they are still busy hammering out the finer details of a deal. Striker Schurrle, 22, has so far refused to comment on the speculation other than to express his disappointment that a move to the Blues failed to materialise last summer.
He may be satisfied this summer, though, as Holzhauser hinted that a deal could soon be struck. "Andre Schurrle has probably signed a pre-contract deal with Chelsea," Holzhauser is quoted as saying by Kicker magazine.
"It all depends on whether we let him go. We have received a concrete offer for a fee which we are considering. But the price alone is not decisive. We must also have alternatives, which we don't have yet."
The one alternative Bayer are keen on is Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, who has caught the eye while playing on loan in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen this season.
However, dislodged Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund are also understood to be interested in the Belgian, who could be the key to Schurrle's move to the Premier League.
"He still has a few talks to hold with Chelsea," said Holzhauser.
"It looks like there is an offer from Dortmund to sign the player for a relatively high fee.
"According to our information, Chelsea don't want to sell him but just loan him out."
However, Leverkusen have not yet spoken with De Bruyne to "find out if he actually wants to come to us and, if so, on what conditions."

He's just another wasted talent. Him and Willian both and with new signings at Chelsea, they will feature even less. Sad to see.

Wut?

Mata was basically sold because Mourinho favoured Willian over him.

Willian has started Chelsea's last 4/6 games.

Schurrle is perhaps being wasted but not Willian.

You think every player that goes to Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal is wasting their career. Willian is certainly not being wasted.

Right. Though if he will become regular, I'd sure as hell love to know where new boy Salah and Matic will fit into the team. And poor Van Ginkel. He's the true wasted talent at Chelsea. Get the hell out of there Marco.

Waken up, there are plenty of examples both current and past. And Willian was being wasted earlier in the season.

Chelsea only have 5 first team attacking midfielders for a 4-2-3-1 system. 5 players for 3 spots with the amount of games they have is fine IMO.

There's being given time to settle in a new country and there's being wasted. If you can't tell the difference there's not much I can do for you.

You do realise Van Ginkel is injured and out for the season?

5? Don't they have more like 8? Including Matic, isn't he attack? If he's defensive it's likely they'll have more of an issue keeping the defensives happy in that 4-2-3-1.

Matic isn't an attacking midfield.

All in all, they probably have like 10 first team players for 5 positions.

Yeah maybe keeping the holding midfielders might be slightly more tricky.
