So the OP has questioned a player's contribution and spent some time to back up his point .

In SC 2012 this means that he is subjected to truck loads of abuse...before the non knuckle dragging SC members start to discuss the issues involved a few pages in.

So much hate on here for anyone who posits anything even slightly out of the norm . Poor old Sloth mused on Kaboom as CF yesterday..as a vague suggestion.
Another truck load of hate dumped on him too .

57 comes in and has made no coherent argument at all....just pure malice, as ever .

YUK , this place , was it always so full of hate ?

btw Parker has been quieter lately .

I take issue with this, There was no hate towards Sloth yesterday, there was some jesting and a bit of fun poked, maybe one poster who doesn't get on with Sloth sttempted something, but no hate.

There is not really any hate in this thread either, more bewilderment. I am bewildered, mainly becuase since the inclusion into our squad of Scott Parker, and Adebayor, we have lost only one game in 19. So is answer to the the OP, what does Scott Parker do? He stops us losing football matches and help us to 3rd in the table and potential title challengers.

He does this by fantastic ball retention, picking a simple pass to our very handy forward players. making excellent interceptions and tackles at the right rime. Without him, and Adebayor, I doubt very much that we would be in the postion in the PL that we are now.

So I'll answer again, what does Scott parker do? Scott Parker is a major catalyst of the Tottenham team that I love having the best season that I can remember since 1987.

Exactly matty, and I also take issue with it being a 'vague suggestion' from sloth about Unit Kaboom being used as a CF. I poked fun at him, mainly because it genuinely is one of the most bizarre things that I have ever heard  and sloth knows that.

It would appear the only hate comes from Gilzeanking towards SC as a place, so one would wonder why if he in fact finds it such a chore to read through threads and has a big feeling of 'yuk' towards SC2012, he actually bothers visiting at all.

Stats are only really "useful" when they look at the whole picture over a period of time. I think BC always uses them well (*groans from the crowd*) but the tackle stats provided in the OP are not complete enough to be useful.

I bet there are games where Rafa makes more tackles than Benny. I bet there are games when Dawson has completed more passes than Modric. One swallow does not make a summer.

Regarding the OP and Parker's contribution.... in my opinion he is not in there to be defensive or box-to-box or anything in particular. He is there to balance Modric in CM.

In some games where the opponents are frequently attacking he will take up the role of DM to allow Modric more freedom. In games where the opponents park the bus that defensive nature is not needed so he can roam forwards more.

When a team comes to play us they will surely have Bale and Modric marked as the guys they want to mark out of the game. If that then allows Parker more freedom to get forward and be attacking then he should (and does) do that.

This isn't a case of DM's or CM's or AM's or whatever. It's about a human being playing football and using their brain to know the best way they can influence any particular game.

I think Parker was awesome in our first 5 home games, and away at Norwich and West Brom.

Apart from that, he didn't play with the same intensity in most away games and we were lucky to pick up the win at Fulham and Blackburn, because we sat back and invited pressure.

I think he has been poor in possession as of late, but I don't think enough has been done to protect his fitness, and he doesn't look as sharp.

To answer what he does, apart from his combatitiveness.

He knows when to get on the ball better than Sandro and gives confidence to those around him.

Our shape is better. Sandro sits TOO deep at times when playing with Modric, creating big holes in front of him. He should only be that deep in an old Chelsea style 4-3-3, or a 4-1-4-1. Never a 4-4-2. 4-4-2, defensively, needs to be compressed, and in a line.

How about the stat of being 3rd in the table and Parker only losing one game as a Spurs player? If he doesn't contribute anything I doubt we would be in the position we are in. It's a team game and as a team we are better with Parker playing, the OP said he would rather have a tackle than the opposition put under pressure I disagree, I would rather a player hounded and pressurised the opposition so that they misplaced passes and weren't allowed to play their game.

No hate here.

The OP has worded his post terribly and sorry but some will ridicule.

He has later said Parker's contribution has been less in the last month and questioned if he is fit. If the thread was about Parker's performance not being as good due to a possible injury he would have got a better response.

A breakdown of the chart claiming that Sandro made 11 tackles against Chelsea shows he did nothing of the sort. He made 3.

8 min Duel Won (Tackle)
45+1 min Duel Lost (Take On)
48 min Duel Lost (Tackle)
57 min Duel Lost (Take On)
57 min Duel Won (Take On)
63 min Duel Won (Tackle)
69 min Duel Lost (Aerial)
82 min Duel Won (Aerial)
84 min Duel Won (Take On)
85 min Duel Won (Take On)
85 min Duel Won (Take On)

In the same game, Parker made two tackles (both successful) and Modric made one (successful).

Don't give a crap about those statistics, watch Scott Parker week in week out and if you know anything about football you will realise what a good player he is and what he brings to the team. He may have been slightly rusty against Wolves as he was just back from an injury, but aside from that he has been absolutely class so far this season for us.

This is thread is bloody brilliant!!! The effort that's gone in is immense, congrats! I have to knock a powerpoint presentation for work this week and I'm a bit snowed under so don't really have time to make it look pretty, can you tart it up for me?

What you have managed to prove once and for all that statistics in the hands of a football fan with an agenda are completely useless. It's the best example by a long way of football based stats being totally misleading. Economist, Epidemiologists, Marketers, Statistician, Data miners who have spent years of there life looking facts on spreadsheets have all screwed up in biblical style over the years when interpreting data... You sir have now screwed up in biblical style as a football fan like I've never seen before, it's no mean feat, I seriously mean that. I salute you, you deserve an award or something.
Am ROFL:rofl: at this reply and with "Does His Hair"has to be some of the best replies to a topic I have read in a long time
P.S Does any one take the Guardian seriously for Football? LOL. Just enjoy the game for thats what it is a Game:grin:

Ok, fair does if you think he does that. Can you describe to me what he has done to improve our team. I know that our team improved with him in it, I want to know the WHY.
